I am looking at a 07 Quadcab 5.9L 3500 DRW 6-speed truck with 112,000 miles on it. I know that I will need to look at the injectors and that the #4 injector line can work loose and break. My question are: 1. I have previously read about taking the oil fill cap off and checking to see if it smokes while the engine is running, but what exactly am I looking for? 2. Is this the mileage that the front wheel bearing start to fail? Been there done that on the 99 I currently own. 3. I looked over the dealerships version of the carfax record and the truck has had 65,000 miles put on it in the last 10 months, something to be concerned about? The truck is about 600 miles (11hrs) away and I want to be prepared at what to look for before I drive that far to buy it. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Well just from what I have learned on this awesome forum, take the oil filler cap off after it is warmed up and flip it over on the fill hole and see if it bounces or blows off. I think you need to be more worried about pulsing pressure. As for smoke it is real hard to tell the diff. between smoke, steam. My opinion on the rest of the truck is gonna be on how hard the other guys were on it, snow plow, race car,ect....... If I was to buy another cummins I would crawl under and look at any leaks, and bring a screw driver to get a good look in past the air filter all the way to turbo real easy job. Look for dusting. Also there is a search bar that will give you more info then you wanna read.
