Hey guys i figured i would share my findings from an on goin problem i have been having.... Quick recap, Last summer about one month before i purchased my Silver 64 my stock charger started to making only 26psi at full boost when it used to hit 32psi all day long.. Well since i was already looking into buying an upgraded turbo and after i put new IC boots, Clampco clamps, new afe filter, grid heater gaskets and everything i fiqured maybe this would have fix my low boost problem... So once the new turbo was on and it was providing 45psi of boost i thought everything was ok cause i was just running the smarty (which boost fools to 44psi).. But after the addition of the Quad Boost fooler, Cfm+, II Cp3, and MP-8 and still only seeing 45psi of boost :banghead: it really started to set in that i was having some sort of problem and it needed fixed!! I didnt want to continue to keep throwing money into it and just hopping it would fix it so my first step was too make something to pressure test my intake system... So at work yesterday i fabbed up this custom intake pressure tester (pictured below) and used my stock IC boot and a reducer PVC pipe to mount it to the compressor housing.. After my first test and about 5psi reading on my guage i started to hear air pouring out by my intake manifold and after a closer look i found that i blew my Intake Manifold Gasket right behind the feed line goin to the fuel rail... I was actually shocked that the amount of air coming leaking out couldnt have been heard.. But i am so releaved thats all it was, and the gasket (which is $12)will be here tomorrow :party018: Pictured below are some photos of my Pressure Tester, it mounted on my turbo and the last photo if you look closely about 1" to the right of the Map Sensor you can see the gasket sticking out.. I will post my results after the intall of the new gasket tomorrow... Thanks Shawn

Nice find!..........Where did you find the aluminum peice that the air inlet is mounted to? I made one similar for my old FURD truck, and have been wanting to do another for this truck.....I loaned the other one out and never saw it again............

I am having the same problem. I don't see much boost and my EGT's are lower. I use to be able to hit 52 psi all day.

Where is this Gasket? Can you get better pictures of this gasket? I can hardly see it by the feed line.

I got new Intake elbow gaskets. But I just don't see any leaks. Even after all the boot changes.

In the last photo if you look closely right next to the Map Sensor on the Intake Manifold plate you can actually see a part of the gasket hanging out.. I'm at work right now but I'll be able to post more pictures later once I put the new gasket in.. I would have never found this problem without pressure testing the intake system

DSLRAM is asking about the peice that the gauge and air inlet valve are attached to.
That's wat I thought but wasn't sure.. It's actually a piece of steel bar stock that I machined down in a lathe..

Used those quite a few times on my borgW s256 SRT-4. Great way to gain power that you are losing through boost leaks.

Ok guys heres a little update on wat i found... My intake manifold gasket was destroyed and i cant believe it was like this for over a year.. Now with the new gasket installed i hooked back up the pressure tester and then had two intercooler boots leaking also:banghead: so i tightened the clamps up some more and fixed that problem  I attached some photos of my Gasket so you guys can see wat had happed.. Boost feels amazing now, i havent had the chance to open her up yet but i do have a dyno appointment tomorrow at 10am to do some tuning and ill will post my results.. So after my findings i realized how important it is to do a pressure test for someone whose upgrading their turbo or anything dealing with the intake system.. If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask me... Thanks for listening, Shawn

That thing going to run real nice now that is it all tight with no leaks. It is crazy that the gasket failed in two spots like that.

Yeah that's kinda fishy, like it was torn before it was installed or something?

yea i was completey amazed!!! Well just got back from road testing and with the Smarty on SW #9 and the Mp-8 on 50% i seen a max of about 48psi :banghead:.. And everytime i turn my Mp-8 on anything over 50% my truck starts studdering, it only does this in 6th gear on a hard pull and starts doing it at about 2,500rpm... Wats the deal with that do you think maybe i have a bad Mp-8??? My rail pressure flucuates too when it does it goes from 26k and drops down to 21k and back up.... Theres no way i am loosing raill pressure is there?? Its done this ever since i put the Mp-8 on... Im goin to the dyno tomorrow to see wat she can do.. Ill post my results once i get home but does anyone have any ideas why my trucks acting this way and dont you think i should be pushing more that 48psi?? And i only see max of 42psi in all the other gears.. Say if i had stock injectors in would all this make more sense?? Thanks in advance Shawn

so, is'nt their a chance that air can pass though an open valve. I ask this because it seem like it takes along time for my boost guage to increase- I pressurized my ststem but only from the boot where the turbo connects to the boot to where my intake horn connects. If air will not leak into the engine then I will try it again but pressurize the whole system.

Im also curious about that too, After fixing my gasket and then pressurizing my intake system again i had no leaks:thumbsup: But i only got about 2-3psi more :banghead:.. Im running out of ideas here :confused013:.. Well i went to the dyno today and after 20 runs and 2.5hrs my best run was with my Smarty TNT/Mp-8 stack and it put out 551.2hp 1039.7tq.. Yea i think they are nice number but i def feel i should at least be in the 600+hp range.. If anyone wants to check out my notes ill post a link, i told notes on every single run, i would set the smarty to a certian setting and then run my Mp-8 on 0% then 50%, then 75% also some were tried on 100% but you will notice after about 50% on the Mp-8 i started loosing power..:banghead: Heres the link.. Thanks Shawn
