Hey guys got a small problem hopfully this just happened now a couple weeks ago when first start up the truck i drive down the road first gear will go to about 2500 rpm eaz off her and then she shifts normally at all times till next time i shut her down 2002 2500 2rd all stock thanks guys

Yeah start the truck put her in drive and she will just stay in first till you let off the gas pedel a little then she will shift just fine all day till the next time i start her up

Search band adjustment. These trannies need to be adjusted periodically. Anyway, may be your front band that you can adjust without dropping the pan and you'll need a tourque wrench. If it hasn't been done for a while, I would definitely do it anyway. Change the oil and filter as farmboy says also if it hasn't been done and you will be able to get a the rear band while in there.

Might be a governor pressure solenoid and sensor, and/or the throttle valve cable needs to be adjusted. Mine old auto had similar problems, but not in first gear. However, after fixing both of them it seemed to straighten things out till my TC started slipping bad.

If it does it every time until you hit 25-30mph and then shifts normally, it's usually the speed sensor in the trans.

Mine does it just like eagleers. The first time it shifts after the truck is started.Every shift after first one is ok. Then you shut truck off the start it up again and then it does it again.
