Truck started spittering and sputtering going down the road the other day when it was single digits here in PA thought maybe fuel gelled up on me. Truck has been inside now for a day. Fresh diesel added with some *********** service.

Question with the lift pump. With the filter off. And attempting to prime the system I should feel some resistance on the lever correct?

And with the filter off. There should be fuel coming out of where the filter should be correct ?

With the filter off you would get fuel coming out of the filter threaded adapter.

It would be a safe assumption that the lift pump failed?

I get a few drops of diesel when cranking it over. But by a few I mean 3 4 maybe 5 drops

Next. Now I have a Holley black electric pump. Kinda in a bind down here at school (college). I can put that down on the frame as a inline pump and force fuel through the stock junk lift pump correct?

I wouldn't push the fuel through a bad LP the factory LP's are a diaphragm type and they can leak fuel into the engine oil.

You have to be carefull when putting a electric pump on the stock LP only puts out 3-5 PSI. If you put over 10-12 PSI you can blow the front seal out of your IP. So it needs to be regulated.

The fuel pump I bought only runs at 8 or 9 psi

What about completely by passing the factory lift pump. And running 3/8s fuel line straight to the injection pump?

You will want a filter won't you? You could connect your line from the electric pump at the line going from the stock LP to the filter. Take the stock LP off and a small block Chevy fuel pump block off plate will cover the hole from the stock LP.

Ahhh. duh. Yes would want the filter. Didn't think about that. I was just trying to run bigger fuel line.

Ok next question
What's the easiest way to get the electric pump plumbed in. Since the truck has plastic fuel lines

You should be able to slip a new warm 3/8's rubber line over the plastic line then double clamp it. I always double clamp on fuel lines to help you get a good seal so it doesn't suck any air into the system.
