In my 04 5.9 I had a Quadzilla and loved it. But it would fool the Lie-O-Meter on the over head up to reading 5 MPG more than it really was. Example: 20 MPG read 25 MPG on the overhead.

I just finished installing the MP-8 and took it for a 5 mile drive. The overhead got up to 20.1 MPG on the flats.

Does the MP-8 fool the overhead to reading higher than the actual?

I have a full tank with some miles on it so I can't clock it yet. I'm just wondering if I see an actual improvement or not.

I believe it does both. Your overhead will be further off but you should still see the Improvement in the actual MPGs.

I saw 22.6 running at about 68 MPH and then it went into regen. Ugh! It fell down to 18 then and I just watched the fuel gauge drop. (Kinda reminds me of a 56 Chrysler I had. Gas gauge would drop sitting at a stop sign) But up until then, the fuel gauge just sat there on 7/8 for about 30 miles. Been in ReGen ever since.

My MP-8 made my overhead about .5 MPG furhther off, when i did the egr delete, it got way off! I didn't expect that to change at all. It is now usually 20% higher then hand calc

so everyone says the MP8 gives 2mpg. Is 1 or that BS and the MP8 only good for 1?

Mine, stock, reads 1 MPG higher than actually. What these guys are saying is the MP8 is adding like .5 MPG error or a total of 1.5 error over actual.

Example. I read 22.6 on the overhead yesterday at it's highest point. That means it was actually around 21 MPG Or 18 MPG was actually 16.5 MPG.

Interesting thing. In my 60 mile drive I averaged approximately 19.5 MPG after the CAF and the MP8 set on full. Based on the overhead readings, discounting the 1.5 MPG error. We'll see when I fill it and run it again for the real mileage test. Frankly I am still skeptical

I am curious to hear your actual results hand calculating it. I am gonna take a about a 600 mile road trip at the end of the month so i should be able to get some highway numbers.

I have such a long commute. But my plate is very full and have to stay near the nest for another month.

all the checking i'm doing , it seems like the guys who had better fuel mileage from the start see less of a gain vs. the people who have crap at the beginning and see bigger gains. Is this possible? Could some trucks come with more pressure or a better tune?

Ha on the highway with all my stuff mine will read 33.6 mpg if only it was true lol. mines generaly 10-14 off.

What you just said is a good point and seems to be quite true. How did you do with your truck in the beginning?

everyone talks about the mp8 improving fuel mileage for 6.7s but does anyone know if it will help me out on my 5.9. i can almost buy 3 tanks of diesel for what is cost:thud:
would it be worth it for me

My overhead is approximately 1 mpg to the optimistic side, and I found no significant change to accuracy by adding the mp8. Overall, I think in an otherwise stock 6.7 the mp8 will gain about 2mpg. I think the mp8 has the ability to gain at least 3-4 mpg, but due to more frequent regens it won't gain all that with a dpf. With a dpf delete you will gain the full fuel economy gains from any "chip" due to too not having more frequent regens from more soot. Trust me, after adding a 5" turbo-back exhaust, the mp8 will lay down a nice cloud of smoke with it turned up compared to a little puff with it off. Assuming I won't have problems ahead, I feel the mp8 has paid for itself already, I basically get an extra 100 miles on a tank with it.
