How long can I leave my truck plugged in for?

I would like to leave it plugged in for about 6-8 hours.....

Other than the electrical bill......will it hurt my truck all at?

No won't hurt it at all, I regularly leave mine plugged in for 10 hours or more.
it kicks on and off automatically. once it reaches a certain temperature it kicks off and then comes back on

Does it really????
I plug mine in for 8-9 hours when it's really cold out, hasn't seemed to bother it at all.

No, it doesn't kick on or off, it's just a simple heating element.

dont?? i think ya meant done there nick...:D
It will burn out your heating element sooner if you leave it plugged in. The worst part is you usually don't know your element is burnt out till it's too late.
Cumminscrb is right it does not kick out.

lol, thanks....I would like to put a meter between the truck and the outlet jsut to see how much it really draws. I dont think it draws that much.

If you are worried about it. You plug into a timer
they draw a good amount....last night i hooked mine up on my porch and had a light on...it went pretty dim
thats cause its a 2nd gen :p
hey at least all the 24 valves came standard w/ one :buttkick:

Every Cummins engine has a block heater, it's the cable from Chrysler that you have to buy. Another way for them to save a few bucks. I miss my under hood light that my 02 came standard with. My 05 has the wiring and a spot for the light cut out in the insullation, just no light WTF?

I bought mine used and it already had one installed :party018:
They use around 1200-1500watts. Cost around .10 cents a hour to run

A member on here (I can't remember who) done that and said the block heater draws 5.75amps on a third gen. The book says 750watt and 6.5amp.
