leaving the 1st cat in place when deleting

what are your thoughts on leaving the 1st car in place when deleting? any benefit to deleting that cat along with the DPF and cat#2?

Less Diesel smell. Probably less drone too.

So the Cat(s) don’t attribute to too much flow restriction then? I don’t mind my truck smelling less so if its not hurting anything ill leave it. It smells a little worse than stock with the dpf and second cat removed but barely.

Doing more searching it sounds like its not even worth the trouble

IIRC the cat is in the downpipe, then you've got the DPF, then the NOx filter, then the muffler. The cat is fairly restrictive, but doesn't impede flow anywhere near as bad as the DPF and NOx. As said above, it's not really gonna hurt anything being in there operating in the stock rpm range. EGT that close to the turbo is still high enough that it should stay fairly clean, so I wouldn't really worry about leaving it in there unless you plan on making 550-600+ at the wheels. And it's in probably the best possible place for a restriction to get rid of drone, so there's that too...

When I first deleted, I got a "delete pipe" and left everything else in there. Basically Turbo - Downpipe/CAT - Delete pipe - Stock Muffler - Stock exhaust out the back.

It was pretty quiet, ran good and I was happy with it. If I had to remove and install every 2 years I would have probably left it like that.
