Mine's a little different but same basic design, got mine 5-6 years ago, love it when it comes to working on todays trucks, can't crawl up on the radiator and put you feet down on the frame rails like on the old trucks, back can't take being bent over that way for long either.

Wow...that is a beast! Nothing like a West KY deer<img src="http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
Nice!
Thanks! He was a brute I have him being mounted now! Cant wait for him to come back !

Destroked 450: deer with trucks are never bueno ! And missing out on hunting always sucks in my book.

ptown44: I did live in hopkinsville, I had taken my truck to integrity auto once in clarksville on riverside. He was cool his name is Tommy clayton. My overdrive housing cracked and I didnt have a way to change housings myself. As for tuning I drove to anarchy diesel to have one truck dyno tuned. Spent a few hrs there and got my truck dialed in. Before them with efi I had firepunk, not dyno tuned and truck made 760 ish and after i left anarchy she made 927 on fuel. So i was super impressed with the difference. (Also threw on dual cp3s ae I knew I was draining my tail on previous tunes so probably where the jump came from) but still ! I was pleased !
Appreciate the info!

Well Poo, got to pull the Cummins out of my Ford again.
Was greasing it and checking everything in preparation to make a short trip up to north east In tomorrow to pickup up a new incinerator for our poultry barns.
Noticed a oily mess on the left front side and after searching and wiping I found a crack in the bottom of the timing gear case between the block and power steering mount.
Engine sets to far back under the cowling to get the pushrods out, since the cam has to come out I'm going to swap a stock one back in and will have to replace the tappets as well.
This was not on my bucket list of repairs to do this year.

How bad is the crack ? Could you jb weld to get by for a while lol. Hopefully not a daily driver. And is there any way to drill holes for the push rods like ours when you get the motor out? Or like a right angle drill ?

It's easier to just pull the engine, two cylinders are under the cowling and the back cylinder is past the windshield.
I may do a temporary JB weld patch but the crack is hard to get to without removing most of the steering and sway bar, plus with the crack on the bottom it's hard to keep oil from leaching thru and messing up the weld.
It's just dripping so other than making a mess and marking it's territory it's drivable, as long as it's doesn't get real bad I use it here local thru hay season and see about fixing it later in the fall.
Drove it 525 miles round trip yesterday to north eastern In near Decator, haven't checked the oil level this morning to see how much it leaked out, this was the first long trip I've made with the truck at interstate speeds averaging 70-75 mph, was slightly disappointed with fuel mileage, round trip average was 14.6 mpg, was hoping to get 15 or better, would have been tickled with 16 mpg, overall for a F-450 dually it drove and rode pretty good, I think a lot of that has to do with the 5600 lb F-350 springs we used on the front when we did the coil spring front conversion, before the 6000 lb leaf springs were pretty stiff.

Well after 5 years, I'm finally back in a Cummins again. I finally pulled the trigger and got me a 2018 Laramie. Hoping to stay active on here a little more and catch up on what's all changed in the recent years. I had been in an Ecoboost F150 and a Duramax LLY before this, so it feels good to be back in a Cummins again.
Currently catching up on all the tuning/ deleting tips and tricks so I'm hoping that will be my next project.

I would mess around on the other forums and occasionally visit this one to search something for a buddy or check out what was going on with the newer trucks. I've been looking for a while and finally decided to make the switch. I wasn't a fan of my LLY, and the ecoboost was fine but it just wasn't fun to mess around with like a diesel.

Yeah I hear you there. I had 2009 platinum F150, loved the truck but we bought a camper last year and pulled it once to Gatlinburg and even my wife said we need a diesel. Lol. I have a 2006 F250 now, I'd like to upgrade but we're in the process of selling our house so can't make any big purchases until we buy something else.

Though I'd get a good start on farming this year so back in Feb I replaced the well worn tires on the cab tractor I bale hay with.

906495

Replaced all 4 tires with new radials going on the rear

906496

And just my luck 5 acres into 65 acres of hay on the ground the side wall on the new right rear blew out
#$%&%#[email protected], even though the tractors been setting i did purchase the tires nearly 6 months ago so naturally their wanting to kick on the warranty, they said they would sell me one at a much reduced pice but they don't have that tire in stock at this time, more #@%^&#@.

906497

Luckily I was able to rob a tire and wheel from a project tractor i have to get back in the field and finish baling.
Looks like poo but it got the job done

906498

And the next day the AC quit working *%#[email protected]#, baled hay for 2 days with no AC getting nice and toasty.

Sounds like you're having my luck. My car's A/C is out, and also has a check engine light. My truck has a bad injector and supposedly is tuned really hot.

Moved my skid steer to MIL's farm to work on the corral, one crazy heifer broke 4 post trying to get out the last time.
On the way there the fan clutch locked up on my Fummins, eased it on to her place to get the job done and brought it back home, but had to borrow nephews Dmax to haul calves to market sunday, didn't want to take a chance on the fan coming off and taking out the all aluminum radiator I installed when we replaced the engine a few years ago, would have been double bad if it would have got the all aluminum inner cooler to.
Rather than take a chance I suffered thru 2 loads of Dmax shame😞

Better than another blown motor or the like. Finally got my truck back today and dropped my car off to get fixed.

Haven’t been on here in a bit so I figured I’d stop by this thread. I deleted/tuned my 18 along with some head studs as well. I’ve got some new wheels coming in this week hopefully too.

Ended up buying my dads 89 IDI and I’m doing some heavy research for a 12v swap.
Anybody have any experience with a Cummins swap on these trucks? There’s plenty of reading material and I haven’t even scratched the surface on it yet. It already has the zf5 in it so I’m happy for that.

I had a set of swap instructions from DCS for those trucks but loaned them to a guy doing a 5.9 to 78 F-20 swap, never got them back. At the time DCS charged me $25 for the instructions but if you purchase any parts from them they said they would include them for free, that has been a while.
If your needing a engine I have the 94 engine I took out of mine, it'll need a rebuild, cranks good, head is good other than may need resurfaced, pistons are worn and may need bored, the p pump did stick a plunger and I recommend it be sent to Seth for a rebuild, I do have a fast fill cam in a 180 pump core to go with it to upgrade the pump.
If your interested PM me.

I’ll check out DCS and see what they offer. I’ve seen their name pop up on a Fummins page on fb several times.
I’ll send ya a PM as well

Well I finally got the truck to the house and the engine out. The ATS turbo kit on this thing made pulling the engine an absolute nightmare.
Destroked I’ll probably be getting ahold of you here in a few weeks after we finish our shutdown at work.
Gonna do some cleaning in the engine bay and prep for a good ol Cummins.
