What a really well designed product. Install was a snap!
The hardest part is the owners manual. Looks like they print it with a 1950 mimeograph machine! I went to the EDGE web site and downloaded a PDF and printed it out. The manual that came in the kit had pictures you couldn't see details. The PDF printed out in color and helped immensely.
I made an investment in a "Close Quarters" right angle electric drill ($38) to easily drill the hole in the exhaust manifold. I let the engine idle as I drilled and taped the hole and I could see and feel metal chips being ejected. IMO, this is the safest way to keep crud and chips out of the turbo.
On my 06, once everything was done, I had a "Brake" and "ABS" light that wouldn't go out. Drove me nuts! I called EDGE and they said they had never heard of such a thing and could offer no help. The EDGE unit will clear diagnostic codes, but this didn't clear the ABS/Brake lights. While I was installing the J w/A I also installed a Prodigy trailer brake controller and I thought this might be the issue. I disconnected it and "no joy"......
So I pulled every fuse in the box and checked them. All OK. When I installed the power for the EDGE, I removed a fuse marked "spare" and used a fuse jumper to get voltage to the EDGE. Well...it seems this fuse isn't a "spare" and has something to do with the ABS. When I reinstalled the fuse, the lights went off! Thank you God!
So anyways....The J with A works amazing. I love the Turbo Cool Down Mode being controlled by either time or temperature, both user settable.
The "gauge" readouts work great and are very easy to set. The alarm parameters are great. You can even set max speed and an alarm will sound if you exceed it. Great!
I've only used the power levels 0-4......In four, I'll need new rear tires in a week...... WOW! Talk about balls! 40 to 80 mph is simple amazing!
I built a nice little aluminum mount to place the controller right over the rear view mirror that I'll post pictures of tomorrow.
All in all, this is the best $800 I've ever spent on hop up parts with such instant gratification.....
