I've been working ridiculous hours for months now. Haven't done much work on the truck or much posting either. I had planned on doing a build thread for the new engine, but just haven't had time. But, I did just get some time off for the holidays so, the engine is finally in!!!

Wow looks great man! Can you remind us on the major components? I'm surprised you have a boot halfway in your cold pipe.

It's a 66/91 combo, 5x20s, 188/220, 13mm, P&P and etc.

Actually, the cold pipe isn't done yet. I bought several different angles of boots to see which worked best. Now I have to replace it with aluminum and tig it. I need to make the intercooler pipe too. Still A ways to go, just glad to have it in.

You can snake them in with the primary mounted to the motor? That would be handy I'm about ready to freshen up my twin turbo truck. Seems like it takes half a day to put the twins on in the truck. Really nice setup you got what Pistons are you running?

That there is a beautiful thing. I think I speak for all of us when I say we can't wait to hear it run!

It's a tight fit, but it will go in with the primary attached. Went with the 286210 pistons. After milling, decking, .020" gasket, and setting valve depth, ended up with 17.5/1 CR.

I'm anxious to hear it run too. But considering work and my indecision over which converter to run, you'll probably have yours back together and running before I do :hehe:

as an aside, do you run without a fan or have you just not put it on yet?

I don't run a fan because I don't have overheating issues, I just don't idle my truck, but I run the pulley. reason I ask is if there is a different length belt and a different way of routing it I'd much rather eliminate the pulley too.

After getting my e-fan setup squared away, I've been thinking about deleting my fan pulley.

I believe you would have a clearance issue with the ESS. With the fan pulley deleted, the belt would wrap most of the way around the crank, and the "exit" point of the belt off the crank pulley would be pretty much where the ESS is. One might also run into problems with reduced belt wrap on the water pump pulley.

I may mock it up in a couple weeks while my truck's down for a transmission swap, but I doubt it's going to work without relocating the ESS.

Forgive me, ESS? and I haven't thought of a way to delete it but maybe someone has some wisdom to impart, which is why I asked. And Don doesn't have his fan pulley installed at the moment which is the other reason why I asked.

Engine Speed Sensor:

The little silver and black thing on top of the harmonic balancer and between the fan blades. Gives you a tach signal and lets the PCM know when the engine's running (for stuff like grids, overdrive/lockup, etc).

Still plan on running a regular fan, just hadn't installed it yet.

My ESS is mounted down low to the right per the Fluiddampr relocation kit, wouldn't be in the way of the belt if you did delete the fan pulley.

Looks great!!

I deleted the fan pulley on mine and run a shorter belt straight to the water pump. Although the WP doesn't have as much wrap on it, it's hasn't slipped or squealed any that I can tell.

I don't use the stock 12v ESS though; it looks from the picture it would be in the way.

If it's enough belt contact, it should theoretically help your water pump last longer too. Less side-load on the bearings.

How do you route the belt for the belt tensioner to work properly? I'd like to do the same as you. I don't have an ac compressor though.

Oh and right the ESS. Haha wow brain fart. Like Don I have mine relocated due to the fluidampr.
