Dodge/RAM's shipment logistics has issues. My wife's '14 Durango was built within a very reasonable time frame, shipped from the plant in Detroit promptly via rail. BUT it has been sitting in a yard about 2 hours away for a week now. This really must be frustrating to the dealers not to mention to those of us that are waiting for our ordered vehicles to arrive. It appears that the issue is with the transport company that is used by Dodge/RAM or how Dodge/RAM has the transport company prioritize their loads.

In contrast, my experience with Ford was the polar opposite. I ordered a 2011 F250. It was built on time. Shipped via rail from Kentucky to a distribution yard in PA. It was in the yard for less than 6 hours and delivered to my selling dealer the same day. I had the truck on my driveway by 3:00pm the same day. I was told that pre-sold vehicles got priority over dealer ordered "for stock".

Ever since Cassens, a non union carrier took over for Allied, a union carrier, service has gone down. There is no incentive for the drivers to bust their butts.

Mine arrived when my dealer said it would and she had given me the date about two weeks in advance, so it was right on.

Hope you like the new rear coil suspension and beefed up front suspension in the 2014 2500. I certainly do.

I just recieved a call from our selling dealer. Delivery has now been pushed to next Monday 12/16. The car got to the yard on 12/4. The dealer (I am dealing with the GM directly) told me that there really is an issue with getting cars/trucks delivered from the yard. He is waiting on quite a few pre-sold vehicles that are just sitting in the yard.

Find out who the shipping company is. Its more than likely Cassens. Go into their office and take the dispatcher a nice bottle of whiskey with your VIN taped to it. See how fast your truck moves...

My truck came into Kansas City before Thanksgiving. It was promised Monday, then Tuesday, and today (Thursday) they tell me they have no clue when It will come in. I think I'll let them eat it and go shopping again.

I'm going to the dealer tomorrow to find out where my truck is. They told me when I ordered it shipping usually took three weeks. Doesn't make a lot of since why it takes so long to get the truck from the rail yard, but if the union is involved I'm less suprized.

Wow! No offense but I just can't pass this up. If they're doing their frickin' job, it should be there. Nobody should have to bribe anyone to do their job, that's why they're getting a paycheck!! :sb:

That's the problem with the union, you get paid wether you do your job or not and you can't be fired for not doing it. Where is the incentive?

And trucks are $60k, company's can't make a profit, Detriot is bankrupt and vehicle manufacturing is moving out of the country.

Sorry OP for the rant...

Just the opposite. I was union for 42 years, and if I didn't work I didn't get paid, and yes they could have fired me if I needed it. In fact, 30-60 and/or 90 day suspensions (or more) were common. That's why we carried job insurance, so we could eat if they temporarily fired us. The lack of incentive for the non-union employee is because they are only making half the money for doing the same job. And, they are often asked/forced to do even more without penalty from the employer. The more they are forced to do by their employer, the fewer employees they have to employ. So, no incentive to go out there and bust his butt delivering my truck. The non-union employee usually can't affort to buy the truck he is hauling, because he's tapped out buying his own benefits, but the union man usually can.

Obviously you guys didn't read THIS post. Allied was UNION. They got paid by the hour PLUS an incentive for EACH car or truck delivered so they busted their humps. Cassens comes in and pays the guys HALF the wages and has NO incentive to deliver cars and trucks so the drivers take their time doing the job. I have been ordering cars and trucks for 35 years, 37 total new vehicles and NEVER had a problem getting a vehicle off the train and onto a truck until Cassens took over 3 years ago.
