You guys have taught me a lot about how to make these pickups run & I really appreciate that, thank you all !! Can anyone tell me if that thin intercooler is any good, is it restrictive and does it cool the air enough, it is only 1 1/4 thick.

Depends on the power your making..... its efficent enough for stock power. its a shame they charge $25k plus and put the cheap stuff they do on these rigs, on my 06' and now my 08' i have put the BD intercooler on them, and it helped lower EGTS quite a bit!

That's a tough question. I've read on here that the 2008+ intercoolers are crap and can't cool down efficiently because they are smaller. But with the mods in my sig, I've never seen over 1500 degrees at WOT. And I've run it hard.

I'm not disputing that an aftermarket one is better - or that I'd see lower EGT's. But I don't think its as crappy as people say.

For me, I'd rather spend $1,500 on other mods first - like upgrading the CP3 and fuel system. Which is what I did.

But do you have one of the little bitty Inter Coolers. They made the switch in the 08 models so some have the good one and the others have the little ones

But if a person spends the money on a Inter Cooler I would use Joe Hellmanns, Hellmann Performance Intercoolers, custom fabrication richmond texas, hellmann performance richmond texas, custom fabrication, diesel truck, welding, diesel performance parts, texas, powerstroke
His are sweet and stout. Mind you there is a science to building a inter cooler. Really big and fast flowing does not make for a better cooler.

Money is the # 1 Priority to almost everyone, the way i see it is play it safe..... when you spend 25k + on a truck you dont want to blow it up, right? So here is the order in which i modded mine, if you care,

Boost, EGT, Fuel Pressure Gauges

Intercooler

Air Filter

Exhaust and XRT

Clutch

Head studs

Boost Fooler

150 Fass

MP8

to Come

K2's twins

WCC Intake

K2 boost tube

80hp injectors

Modified CP3

New clutch

I built my engine Safety first.
