 Ok so the other night I was talking to a friend and he told me that he runs a mixture of 50% oil and 50% diesel fuel in his pickup, is this possible? He says that he runs anything that he can find (hydrolic, motor, tranny oil) after he puts it through some filters and just dumps it in the tank? Won’t the oil mess up something? If it is possible then what would be a safe mixture? I work for a petroleum division and could get the stuff for free if that is the case:thumbsup

i dont think i would do it but i heard aobut someone that was miking fuel from 100% recycled oil
My cousin does the same. It is not safe, I wouldn't use it on a new truck. He uses it in an old 7.3 before the powerchoke. It is very possible.

You can probably get away with a 75% diesel and 25% used oil if you filter it enough. The big probably is that the fuel is a lot thicker than regular diesel, and it puts a strain on the lift pump and injections pump.
Search the forum because there was a good discussion about this a month or two ago. Yes it is possible, it will decrease mileage however it was free anyways. I havent tried it and would be kinda worried to try it but it has been proven. Most people who do run 50/50 mix or less. Does also decrease power and increase smoke
If you're gonna do it at those concentrations, you'd better do it with a 12 valver. Those trucks will run on most anything
im doing it right now in my 95 and have it about a 50/50 mix and its running smoother than before with no nodicable power differance. and i can actually afford to drive around and just cruise like all the other kids that mommy and daddy pay for there fuel.:lol3:
don't it shortin the life of the fuel filter?
well my friend ran straight used and filtered tranny fluid in his 05 or 06 powerchoke and in his 95 chevy 6.5 diesel. they both ran fine
I run 75% used vegie oil. Running for the last 8 monyhs without problems.
The New Freightshakers Dump A Quart Or Two Of Motor Oil Strait Into The Fuel Tanks Daily(or By Hours Or Ect.) And Have A Fresh Oil Reservior To Replentish The Lost. They Never Change Oil, Just Filters.

Personally I would not burn waste engine oil or any other petroleum based lub since there are heavy metals in the oil and it will burn VERY dirty. I mean am no tree hugger but burning waste oil is a little too dirty for me. I would imagine a common rail would not be a big fan of it either.
