It's pretty simple as long as you have the longer bolts that come w/ the 2nd gen manifold. I tore one of my stock gaskets trying to get my stocker off. Luckily for me mine came with gaskets. You may want to have a spare at the ready.....

I have not noticed any difference at all. I know some guys have claimed like 20-40hp gains. When you first look at the inside of the intake it looks like the early ones will flow better but when you look closer it appears to me that there is probably the same amount of airflow. The 2nd gen intake has a wider outlet, which makes you believe it flows lots more air, but the 3rd gen intake is taller at the outlet which "may" compensate for that. I don't know. It's on and the truck runs fine but it's no different than before for me......
