Hey guys,

I have a NIB Viper 5900 SST with a bypass key loop that I was planning to install on my last truck but never got around to it. Has anyone installed one of these on a cummins? I had found a full DIY Writeup for the last truck that was going to make it easy but haven't found anything for this truck (2006 Ram 3500 5.9)

Good luck with that Curt. I had my Clifford installed at Car Toys and it was a head scratcher for 'em. That coded key and the CANBUS wiring made it a chore. Took a few visits to get the bugs out.

I'd pay someone to do it if it were reasonable but everyone I've called won't install it because it wasn't purchased through them and they said it must be purchased through an authorized DEI dealer. I've done enough electrical work on vehicles that I feel like I should be able to tackle it. If anyone knows of where I can get wiring diagrams that may help, let me know!

Its your truck so you can do as you like.. HOWEVER

I'll give you my opinion on that bypass

I would get rid of that bypass and get one that you dont have to lose a key with. There are numerous chrysler bypasses out there now that will program to your truck and you will be able to keep your key.. But..

If you want to use that I can give ya some tips on wiring it up...

let me know!

Ok, I would def like to keep my spare key OUTSIDE of the truck in case I lock myself out. I could always sell this bypass on ebay or somethin.

I found a couple different bypasses on the 12voltbay

Fortin Chrysler Bypass Kit
PATS-CHRYSLER-04+

PATS bypass kit for Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles. Includes a built-in transponder and OEM alarm disarm, programming required, no key required, programming required

iDataLink Transponder Bypass
Solo Series ADS-TBSL C2

Analog transponder override for most Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep vehicles following 2004. Also includes multiplex accessory and second start output.

Would you recommend either of these?

Dont waste your money... i'll try to walk ya through it..

you will need a multimeter or test light though

I have never used the fortin piece, however, I have used the idatalink piece. The Idatalink module works well and is pretty easy to use..

If it was mine... I would probably try to find an xpresskits XK532. This will make it easy to do they keyless entry portion of the install without using relays and resistors.. let me know when ya get the XK532 and I will try to come up with a little diagram

Ok, I'll order the XK532. I only need one of those right? I really appreciate the help! Lots of very helpful guys on here. I've got a couple multi-meters, those things are nice for everything from car to home repair. Found an electric short last week that could have burnt the house down, the previous owners were idiots.
