cut a short 2x4 and let it span across the pans edges, it so easy to change the down pipe it isnt funny, i pulled mine out a couple of times just to weld it fully to my delete pipe.
i put a piece of word under the transfer case and jacked it there.
just lossen the bolts that hook to the trans.
i had to beat the crap out of the cross member to get it out of my way.
an alinment tool helps to get it back in place and hammer
have the down pipe all unbolted and ready to take off. befor you take to cross member out.
then you can just slide it out and hook the cross member back up . the new down pipe should fit with it back in place
I used 2 2x4 cut about 1.5 to 2 foot. Have a 20 ton bottle jack I use on my D8 cat. Used a small pry bar to get the cross member loose. Had the whole exhaust out except downpipe when I dropped the cross member. DON'T bother trying to get downpipe out with cross member in place - waste of time
