My other half has a 2013 Megacab 2500, automatic, with the 68RFe. We bought it brand new off the lot, it’s got roughly 120k on it now. We’ve already rebuilt the trans twice, and it’s starting to sound/feel like we may be in for another round soon. He’s itching to do an Allison swap so badly. He misses driving standard and hates how the truck shifts currently. Between y’all and me, I think a lot of it has to do with his … aggressive, shall we say … driving style. Still, if a swap would save us money and hassle in the long run, maybe it’s the way to go. We don’t have many (if any at all) diesel-savvy mechanics where we live, so he’d be doing most of the work himself. How much effort should I put into talking him out of this?
