So it's time for ball joints on the cummins. I'm going to go with xrfs. Everyone I have asked about doing ball joints says that you take a risk when re installing the axle, that it will leak. and when you have the axle out, to pull out the pinion and axle diff gears and than guide the axle in with new seals. However, is it this way on the aam? Or is that just a dana thing? Am I really going to tear the axle seal by reinstalling the axle?

Thanks for any help.

you just slide the axle out like on the dana axles. Be careful and remove the axle slowly. When your reinstall your axles make sure they are clean and not caked in mud/dirt, line them up about in the midd of the axle tube and slowly slide them in real easy... youll be fine. I have had my axles out 3 times in the last 6 months and so far no leak from the original axle seals.

Clean em up, lube em up, then slide em in nice and easy. Should have no problems.
