So i swapped out injectors on an 03 5.9 3500. Truck is completely stock. Driver heard 5 loud clunks from engine and then died. Any thoughts before i open her up. Followed all torque specs for injector change.

Damage was probably already done by the previous injectors. See if you can turn the engine over by hand.

Thank you. I went back into it. And found a bridge jumped off. Retightened everything and now runs good as new. Rechecked all the valve gaps as well.

Yes i did. Now a new problem developed. I have adjusted valves twice. And when the owner drives it develops a lope in the exhaust note. Any ideas?

Check to make sure the pad on one of the rockers didnt fall off its just a plastic peice that slips on the bottom. Had that happen when I put my studs in. Or your exhaust is set too tight I would think.

Ok. Ill check the exhaust lash again. Im at a loss. The plastic piece on the #1 exhaust came off. Now trying to dial it in. Checked valves and it is tight on all of them and the adjustment nuts were never touched

If you put all the rockers back in the same cylinder and the pads are all on the rockers you should have zero problem I didnt have to readjust when I did my studs

if you have had issues with your overhead adjustment, you should check on the condition of your push tubes to make sure they arent bent. If it keeps coming out of adjustment of a crosshead coming off that is the first place I would check. also check that the pivot shaft in the rocker where it mounts to the pedestal isn't scored this can cause the engine to break rockers and bend push tubes.
