Hey Fellas,
I got myself a new to me '02 2500 QC long box 6 speed and I'm starting the build up. It was bone-stock when I picked it up with 193,000 kms on it and it sits that way now. I have (on the way or yet to install) a DTT assassin, Isspro EV2 fuel pressure gauge, Amsoil 4510, 4" MBRP, Quad adrenaline/pv2. I'm looking at injectors and turbo but I realize I don't know nearly enough to make an educated decision. I'm not looking for huge power numbers or a race truck or anything, just a nice driver with some solid jam when I want it.
Would 75hp injectors be enough or should I go bigger?
Is the stock HX35 gonna hold up or should I upgrade?
I know I'll need a clutch soon enough and I will probably go dual disk.
At this point money isn't really an issue, I just want good value for what I can get. I searched a long time for a truck like this one and I'm going to keep it for as long as possible so I don't want to cut any corners. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Vendors feel free to chime in.
Thanks.

Check out diesel auto powers combo deals...
Honestly we need a HP goal to really be of much help, and what do you plan on doing with the truck? Dd? Toy? Mpg's?

If your not going for big numbers (like less than 400) and want decent milage I would go 75's and a super b... But that's me

400 is about the number I had in mind. It will be my summertime truck, maybe haul a camper. I'll probably DD it to work when it's nice out.

The HE351cw is perfect for 400 hp and can be had for around 400 dollars used, it also spools as quick as the stock HX35. For a clutch I recommend a single disc 450 hp organic disc, they don't wear out the syncrhos as fast as a dual disc.

Good info, thanks. I was thinking I'd just go dual to cover any overages but I didn't know about them wearing out the synchros. The NV5600 has enough synchro troubles on its own.

The most important thing to realize is that you need to do supporting mods before you do anything else. You'll need an aftermarket lift pump like an Airdog or FASS system. The quad alone will really wake the truck up...you'll be surprised. You should be fine running the stock turbo with 75 horse injectors. Anything over 100 though is pushing it as far as EGTs go. And unless you're pushing well over 500 hp to the real wheels, stay away from a dd clutch. A good organic or kevlar/ceramic will work fine. Ceramic/ceramic is a bad idea if you plan on towing anything so keep that in mind as well

Check out my signature for my suggestions to get you to 400-425 range

Btw, doing that on a stock hx35, but I can see 1450* if I reaaaally push it. I only DD. Haven't towed yet, nor do I really plan on it.

valair orgainic dual disc. 7x.009" for injectors and a 62/65/14. the he351cw is nice but they tend to choke the truck out. i made just shy of 470hp with one and it was a fun little charger, but just the truck can't breath from the tight exhaust housing.

Go to southbend's website and read what they have to say about choosing a clutch- its the truth. Don't get something that's "overkill" for what you need just because--- what works for one HP range is not necessary or desirable at another.

I think 75 or 100 sticks and a super b or 62 65 14 will do real well with everything else you have coming. I put down 464 with my edge, 150 sticks and a 62 65 12. It was hot while racing but everything else it was great.
