after 12k miles of no problems i now have to have a new turbo and my dpf is cracked . it happened with no warning , no codes and no cels . it began to run like a truck with a carberater that had a dead spot in it . it would take a nose dive , spit back , emit a large cloud of smoke and finally go on . sometimes the ebrake would not work and sometimes it would come on very violently . i was able to talk to the diesel mechanic himself and he says the turbo is shot and the dpf is cracked . he also said most of his friends have put delete kits on and solved their problems .:CRY:

yep! It will happen like that! I would go ahead and delete if you can! As soon as I can afford the deletes I'm doing it! Right now I'm saving for a clutch!
i am trying to feel the service manager out to see what he would do if i did the delete . he did mention that a good number of trucks that come in for an oil change now have straight pipes where the dpf was and he didn't seem to have a problem with doing warranty work on them .

don't go blowing a turbo on me:ah:
Oh, they don't blow, that might be cool! Instead they die a slow, lingering death. Sometimes they're brought back from the brink of death with promises of a long life if they're simply flushed out with a transfusion of cleaning solution. But in the end, they usually succumb to the soot spewing grim reaper and they are eventually put out of their misery.

Update

dealer called today and said truck was ready and running right . they replaced the butterfly in the egr , replaced the dpf and drilled and cleaned the turbo . does the cleaning really work ? should i do a dpf/egr delete now or is the turbo going to stop up again and have to be replaced ?

im kinda know to this, what is the dpf and the egr and what purpose would it do to remove them?
dpf= diesel particulate filter
egr = exhaust gas recirculation valve
the egr recirculates unburned exhaust gases back through the intake . in other words dumps crap back through the engine .
the dpf is a particulate trap on the exhaust that accumulates particuates from the exhaust and eventually fills up and goes through regeneration to clean itself out .
all of this was forced on cummins by the stupid epa that thinks the environment will be better if they smother our trucks with their crap and make us burn 1/3 again as much fuel .
the moral of the story is : this emissions crap is not working .
the 6.7 is a fine engine but can't function properly through all of this crap .

That sucks no NeW turbo, the consensus is to get that replaced and then do all the deletes

got my truck back yesterday and so far so good . i drove some yesterday and have driven it quite a bit today and so far it runs like new . they found the egr was stuck closed , the dpf was cracked and they did the drill and clean on the turbo . the truck has plenty of power and driving through the mountains today i averaged around 15 mpg . i just hope it lasts . i picked the truck up at closing time and as i walked out , the service manager and the diesel mechanic walked out with me . they were talking about how many turbos that had been cleaned and were growing tired of so many of them . they both said that if i had any more trouble out of mine to delete the crap and hang on to the parts so they could be put back on in case of trouble . on the brighter side , they said they really haven't seen many other issues with our trucks other than the emissions crap .
