hello everyone. just finally got myself a cummins!! i've always been into muscle cars and the wife talked me into selling my 1971 pontiac lemans after having our first kid. i finally talked her into letting me get a bigger truck then what i had. and of course i talked her into a diesel!!

everyone knows fuel prices are going up. and like anyone else i would love to roll coal all over the mustangs and rice burners here on camp lejeune. but im more worried about gas mileage.

what is a programmer i can install that is the best for improving my MPG? im not looking for 150+ hp programmer i just want some better mpg. please help. and anything else that will improve it

thanks guys!!

Welcome to the diesel world. If you get a banks big hoss or I believe the quadzilla xzt+ is slightly better but both should give you a nice little mpg boost and a nice 65 hp increase as well.Better injectors will give you somewhere between 1-3 mpg increase but unless your burning a lot of fuel I don't think there worth it.

The Edge ez and diablo powerpuck sound about right for what you are looking for. I cant really speak for the edge ez as I have never owned one, but I have had the powerpuck and I highly recommend it. Check the classifieds section, you can usually find either one for under a hundred dollars.

The 2 I mentioned will work fine on stock fuel system and tranny.Although you would do well to install a better lift pump at some stage, nothing fancy a fass ddrp would be plenty good.

Welcome.
Ir start off first thing, get a lift pump. If you think you can do with a fass ddrp then just get a raptor 100
Or an airdog. Why not go as big as you can on fuel delivery side that way you have it incase
You upgrade bigger down the road.
Heres how id start again:
1. Lift pump
2. Gauges
3. Then edge ez
4. Bhaf
5. Straight pipe or new exhaust
6. Save for trans upgrades

No problem. Just trying to help out a fellow cummins owner.
And to try and save another vp44 :)
