Traded my old 07 6.7 for a new Laramie 1500 a couple years ago. Nice truck, air ride etc.
Took it to the dealer to get the oil changed last week. A couple days later on the way to work I noticed it was kinda hazy in my rearview mirror. I thought I'd blown out a tire and didn't realize it. I scrolled through them menu and checked my air pressure on the tires, all good. I then realized something bad was happening then the oil light came on. This was on the freeway in Houston during rush hour. By the time I could get over and exit it was sounding pretty bad.
Notice anything missing?

I go to the dealer the next day and ask for the GM. Service manager says "he's not here today."
Showed him the work order from the oil change and the picture. He says that he "might have to rebuild the long block" and I give him the address to go send the tow truck to have it picked up.

I then went back up front and ran in to the general manager that wasn't there. I showed him the W.O. and pictures and told him I wasn't comfortable with a rebuilt motor from them since they couldn't get the drain plug tightened. Told him to give me high blue book for my 1/2 ton and I'd take a new truck off the lot for net net after holdback. Before I could get a chance to say "or I'll post these pics all over google reviews" he said right this way Sir. He takes me to a salesman to pick out my new truck.

Feels good to be back in a CTD.

Wow, that's crazy and the kind of stories you hear about Jiffy Lube, dealers not so much. But like was said, welcome back to a Cummins.

The winner here is the dealer. They will likely throw some gear oil into your 1500’s motor and toss it on the used lot. Lets hope not but they always do what it takes to make money and pass the issue down the line at far too many shops.

Merry Christmas - nice it worked out like that for you.

I suspect that someone else will be posting up about a 1500 with an engine knock....

Since the dealer made right by their customer why are there posts with such negativity about his 1500 ending up on the market with a problem that was covered up? What’s the dealers name because I will buy from them. Finally a dealership did what was right for the customer and people still bash them, WTF!!! Everybody makes mistakes, it’s how you resolve those issues that make you superior to the competition. My hats off to the dealer !!!!

im with @bobaker1978 on this one. its extremely rare to find a dealership that will take care of you like this these days!

hell the dealership I bought my truck from wouldn't even give me a set of wiper blades when I noticed the ones on my brand new truck were already dried out a week into owning it.

1) some people are jealous that he got a good deal instead of being happy for him
2) some people will always look at the worst aspect of a situation
3) as there is power in the word "no" for a supervisor, people feel more intelligent and knowledgeable stating something negative
4) some folks simply cannot be happy for others, but wish the world could clap for them

Nice to hear you didn't have to use that ace card, congrats on the new truck.
Hopefully the lube tech who forgot to tighten the drain plug is looking for other employment.
Pity the poor motorcycles that had to ride through your oil slick.

The downfall of that dealer, is they still weren't truthful that the GM was in the building in the first place. Things wouldn't have worked out as well, if he wasn't able to talk to the GM face to face in my opinion.
