So I buy a 2008 Ram 2500 cummins engine. On the way home from buying this "As-Is" vehicle, the CEL comes on. I fight with it and the dealer (who says oh yeah let me see what I can do to help you and never heard back from) for a few weeks, I get lucky and used cleaner on the MAP sensor and it went away for a week.

I order my EGR delete, "race" exhaust (no cat/dpf), Edge CTS insight, expandable pyrometer, and Anarchy Diesel Autocal. Everything comes except the CTS. I call up and it was overnighted a week ago. They overnight another one yesterday. Well yesterday, my CEL was back too. I get the CTS today and run it and check the code.

I fully expect the same CEL to be back but figure the deletes will do away with my issue anyway. Originally it was a P2563. Now it is a P2563, P2A00, P0031, and P0513. Awesome.

I searched them all on the forum. The P2563 was good after a cleaning so I figure when I delete it, it will stay away. The P2A00 and P0031 are O2 sensor issues from what I remember so with the new exhaust, no bungs, I should be fine I think. The P0513 is something with an invalid skim key. Which from what I've read has to do with codes on tires and the pressure sensor garbage. Well me low tire warning has been on since I got it and I've even taken it to get the tires filled to vehicle specs. So I assume that's not a big deal there either.

Can anyone correct me where I might be wrong? Will these, except the P0513, go away with the deletes and autocal fix for deletes?

Thanks

Oh... and for some reason the autocal said I had no DTC codes when the light came on yesterday.

As for the Autocal not reading the DTCs, that may be because the ECM already cleared them (or you did). It won't hold codes unless the condition still exists. For the O2 sensor code, I kept getting the CEL even after cleaning it until i got a tip to rotate it 180 degrees at the intake tube if i remember right. Basically had it clocked wrong.

who the hell buys a vehicle with DTC codes on it.

You should take all that crap back, and fix your truck to work stock... THEN upgrade it.

P0513 is indeed Invalid SKIM Key, and it means the ECM received an invalid SKIM code from the Wireless Control Module. It has nothing to do with the tire pressure monitoring.

If I understand things correctly, the SKIM code is the code that is programmed into the chip inside your ignition key. The WCM (ignition module) reads the key code at startup and sends it to the ECM. P0513 means wrong code (bad key or some other issue).

I found this note in the service information: "An external Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) key (and/or pass/radio key), such as one used to gain access to a 24 hour gym, can cause this DTC to set and create a no start condition. Inspect the customer's key chain for any type of RFID key. If one is not found, question the customer to see if a spare key chain has this RFID key on it or if it was removed from the original key chain before the vehicle was released for service. If a RFID key is present, remove the ignition key from the vehicle and remove the RFID key from the key chain. For ECM equipped vehicles, the vehicle should start once the RFID key is removed. If the vehicle does not start, continue with the diagnostic test."

If you have no other "chipped" keys / tags on your key chain, it could be you have a bad key, or the SKIM in the ECM needs to be reprogrammed. You would need the key code PIN that came with the new vehicle (I think) in order to reprogram the ECM, or get a new key made.

Another possible reason for P0513 is that someone tried to steal the truck (using an invalid key). But.... who in their right main tries to steal a truck with a DTC code?

So I did my deletes (EGR/DPF) today. Used the Anarchy Autocal before deletes like I was instructed and all those codes are gone now. However, some will probably come back after being driven for a bit.

Now I have the P0107 and P007D codes showing. MAP sensor and charge air cooler temp sensor. I'm reading that I should just plug the MAP sensor on the elbow back in and it will go away. However, the EGR delete instructions said to leave it out so the throttle valve doesn't shut. I'm wondering if this is bypassed from the autocal programming and I should just plug it back in? Also I noticed now the lights in my cab dim on and off and if I hit the throttle a bit, it sounds like it cuts out for a 1/4 second but doesn't shut off.

So your response is useless but thanks anyway. Pretty sure I wrote that it came on after buying. Either way I did fix it by cleaning the MAP sensor. Doing the deletes with the programming made the O2 sensors "disappear." So I imagine the code wouldn't come back. SKIM error is gone now too, which either way, driving doesn't hurt the vehicle with that code.

So you want me to take the upgrades back, reinstall the things that gave me codes, then fix them, then take them back off with the upgrades? Thanks for the help buddy.

The MAP sensor should be plugged in the the TCV should be unplugged.
Yeah I guess I got the plugs mixed up. I plugged it back in but the codes were still there so I cleared them and we'll see what happens. Shouldn't come back from what I've been told.
