I don't know why my EGTS are so high when i'm towing....HELP

i've got a 2008 6.7 2500. I've got a edge w/att, air intake, DPF delete with the exhaust coming out infront of the back tire, i've got all of 3 foot of pipe coming off of the turbo but the EGTS are still way up there. I'm towing a 35 ft tonge pull toy hauler that weights around 12000 when loaded down. I tow it in stage 2 with tow haul mode engaged and when running 70 on flat ground it usually runs 1150 to 1200 and when on a good hill i've seen up to 1450, i've got the probe in the manifold right where i think the picture showed that came with the programmer but this is just to hot isn't it. is there any chance my probe is faulty or any other ideas it's killing me. My truck will pull the trailer fine and it wants to but i can't let it due to the EGTs. Please some one give me some ideas. also how much boost is to much. If i get on it preety good off a red light with the hauler the boost will jump up to 25 preety quick and just up hills while pulling the hauler i see 20's often. Thanks

Try a complete EGR/EGR cooler delete from K2dieselperformance.com, not running hot soot-filled exhaust gases thru your motor will really help cool your EGT's.

Also, ditch the cat in the downpipe if you havent already done so

On the boost question, your stock turbo won't create enough boost to hurt you, so no worries there. However, the drive pressure on the turbo (engine back pressure :confused013: ) on trucks with hot tunes is the supposed culprit for a lot of headgasket failures at the moment...

I run 1000-1200 while towing, thats pretty normal for these trucks.

Your only seeing 1450? I've seen 1700 spikes on mine and I'm not that worried about it. I'm sure during regen it gets even hotter than that.

With the edge i never saw low egts. Once i switched to the xrt the egts dropped a lot.

If u havnt done it a full egr delete helps a ton and a full tbe

I did a test with the edge pulling my trailer (10k lbs). level 6 was cooler than stock going up a grade, just drop it to 5th gear and go.

Those #'s are totally normal for a 6.7L, they run way hotter than a 5.9L so don't worry. Like it was said above, finish off the deletes to get a little cooler. If you are going to be pulling that trailer lots, look into some water/meth or an intercooler, your 08, if it's a later model, will have an intercooler that is half as thick as the 07.5's. That was put in there to drive up the intake air temps to help with the emissions.:thumbsup:

I was having the same issue over the weekend pulling back from Powell.. camper is 4k wet and boat roughly 6500-7000lbs.. had to work 3rd gear on some of the big passes to stay @ 55mph. I was seeing 1400-1450 and was also worried. I brought the truck back to stock on the edge including timing and it barely made a difference. My question is can you sustain 1450 for 5-10 mins climbing a pass? I pretty much have to peg the throttle in 4th locked to make it up some of these hills with my camper and boat in tow.. otherwise it's gonna be a 50mph max in 3rd @ 3000rpm.

Is there a cat delete for this trucks on the down pipe or can you do it yourself? Also doesn't that effect the back pressure on your turbo. Some guys i have talked to said you need to keep some back pressure on you turbo? Thanks for all of the help.

The less back pressure behind the turbo, the greater the pressure difference across the turbo and the more responsive it will be. So you want as little back pressure as possible.
