Anyone actually swapped the hydroboost system from a newer dodge onto a 12V 2nd gen? I have all the parts, just looking for any threads or a tech article. Maybe some advice on things to look for before or during the swap.

I keep seeing this posted on here...

Why does everyone want to swap a newer/24v hydroboost onto their 12v?

Whats wrong with the 12v hydroboost setup?

I need about 10 times the braking power that vacuum offers on the truck below. When idling down huge inclines or rock faces, the low RPM does not create enough vacuum to stop the massive dual piston calipers on all 4 corners. The brakes work one time, once you let off the pedal, there is very little left unless you rev the truck up some. Even in 1st with 672 gears and an engine brake, it doesnt always slow it down enough (esp if I start rolling backwards).

The calipers barely squeeze into 20inch rims (and they only fit once ground down some).

ok, i was just wondering because i have come across a few threads on this forum and others, where guys want to put 24v hydroboost setups on their 12v vac trucks. But im guessing the 12v and 24v hydro setups are the same...

Got some info on your truck, thats a mean looking setup!

forgive the ignorance from a newbie (as well as digging up an old post), but I was searching for hydroboost info and came across this thread.

What year did the trucks 1st get a hydroboost? I have a 94 motor that I am putting in my 74 Ford and was planning on doing hydroboost, but then I noticed the Vac. and PS pump were combined. It made me wonder if I was cuase problems with the PS pump if I ran a hydroboost and didn't use the Vac. pump.

Superhawk2002 - did you ever do the hydroboost setup - if so what was involved?

Thanks.

The 97 & up have a different steering pump.
There are 2 return lines on the rear instead of 1.
Also a larger capacity reservoir.

They still have a vac pump too (to run the cruise and heater controls), but i believe this was also changed out for the hydroboost setups (i guess its probably a lower CFM as it doesnt need to run much)
