I remember reading a post that I can't find (I think from Compcowboy), where he said something about his boost pressure dropping after an egr delete. I think he had used thinner plates to block the egr and he was losing boost pressure, so he re-made some thicker ones to solve the problem. I got my plates from k2dieselperformance, and I'm sure they are plenty thick. I also have no known problems with my egr delete.

My question is, how would anyone know that their boost pressure had dropped? Maybe it's because I'm not much of a mechanic, but I really don't even know what that means. How can you tell if or when this happens?

You would want to install a boost pressure gauge or something that will give you the boost pressure entering into your manifold (programmers and controllers like the edge with attitude monitor, etc). Once you have your base numbers, then install your egr delete kit and you'll know if its any different from when it was installed. I know there's instructions in here on installing one, many have purchased an air intake manifold to replace the stock one that has ports already drilled and tapped for an easy install of a pressure gauge. Here's an example of one:

Some of them have more then one drilled and tapped port on the back for stuff like propane injection if you decided to go that route. The boost pressure gauge will tell you just how much air from the turbo would be passing through there as it enters your intake manifold...which more pressure means more power in the end, but too much could blow a gasket too, so you might want to read a bit more on bigger turbos and replacing the head bolts to some stronger ones should you start to play with that.

You'll know when your boost pressure drops, the truck will act like you just loaded 15k pounds on the back of it while running down the road empty...kind of like a limp mode i suppose. i haven't experienced it first hand, but that's what i would imagine it's like...runnin the old dodge without a turbo. :thud:

I wasnt so much having Boost Drop, just a little Boost leak where the Plates would flex above 8 PSI boost. You could tell because it would scream under the hood. It was very easy to detect. You can get a boost gauge and probably should have one to keep an eye on things.
