Hey Guys,

Just picked up a 94 3500 DRW SC/LB Auto 2WD. It has a steel flat bed, and 410's out back. I have VERY little experience with these Cummins truck, all I know is I like it! Truck has 267K on the clock, I just changed all the fluids and filters, didn't notice any change in performance. I am going to take that as a good thing, as it all seems to be nicely maintained.

I am real curious to see how my trucks performance is since I have nothing to compare it to. My biggest complaint is that the truck really falls on its face around 2200-2500RPM, hardly accelerates at that RPM. Is this due to the stock governor springs? It kind of sucks because that is where the tranny seems to hold it under heavy acceleration.

Anyways, here is an acceleration video. There is a little tire spin when it shifted into second, the road was a bit damp. Also, sorry about the funny audio, sort of like a buzzing, not sure what it is, camera picks up funny sounds sometimes! Windows were partly down and I don't think it could handle all the noise.

Everything seem A-OK to you guys? I am going to start some light modification, want to make sure it is performing up to spec before I do anything. Thanks!!

^^^^ agreed..

how far do you want to go with this thing? if you just want a good running stockish truck you can achieve that by spending very little money..

Question about the GSK's; been doing some research on them. Can anyone confirm the following?

1.) The 3K starts defueling around 2800RPM? That would be fine with me since I don't have any plans to run the truck higher than that.

2.) Not sure on this one, does the 4K springs have any negative effects on lower RPM performance? Thought I read about possible lag.

Thanks guys!!

it's true that the 3k kit doesn't get you all the way to 3k.. close enough though because the trans shifts around 2800 anyway...

it doesn't have any negative effects on spooling unless you don't have it set right.. that goes for the 3k too though.. from what i understand the 4k is a 3k with 1 extra spring to help it rev higher...

lag is all in the afc tune

4k gks actually have a more crisp throttle response.

turning a 3k gsk tight will allow it to fuel higher

lag is in the tune.. but the throttle response isn't as good if the springs are too tight..

and it will keep you from idling. I'd go with the 4gsk anyway, it really just needs to happen......kinda like beer and crawfish.
