My 2007 Mega is starting to rust over the wheelwells, and the driver's side bottom of the cab is starting to rust through. If I keep this truck, I can't stand having rust.
I'm currently on 37s, and wouldn't mind going up to a 40" or so tire. So with that, I am thinking about going with glass bedsides and front fenders. I've found older posts about people running glass, but, looking to see how they've held up after a few years.
Also, any shops in the PA or MD area that has someone who knows these trucks, any tricks to prevent further rust, and some experience fitting/trimming glass?
I switched to a composite flat bed truck body over 3 years ago and have been very happy with the switch. I purchased at LAST truck bed kit. Many readers will laugh at working a fiberglass flat bed but this bed incorporates military ballistic plate as the bed decking. If it is good enough for road side bomb protection under the HUMMERS in the far east I thought it my be tough enough for my bed needs.
The kit was easy to assemble (in hours not days!) Used std truck bed linear to cover bed area then painted remainder to match cab color. It really made for a custom high end look for my truck. I also added a fiberglass bumper, fiberglass toolboxes, fiberglass rails and a fiberglass Headache Rack. NO MORE RUST nor DENTS.
I am from PA and understand the salt rot issues north of the Mason/Dixion Line. Now living in coastal SC and we have salt 24/7/365. When I pull up to a boat landing on salt water the problem is obvious. OEM beds RUST! But not with my fiberglass body and accessories. It is just like all the fiberglass boats that are launching.
One last benefit was that the LAST bed weights about 70% less than a steel flat bed. I increased my 2500 RAM payload capacity to beyond a 4500 Series truck with a steel bed. I can haul more weight and if I am running empty I increased my MPG.
My truck is a long term work vehicle for me and I have always replaced all repairs and upgrades with the best I can buy. This bed will probably go onto my next truck. I just hope it is 10+ years and another 350,00 miles from now.

I installed glass fenders a few months ago and honestly have been chasing hairline cracks for a while. Maybe once a month I'll go through and find any cracks forming and coat them with fiberglass epoxy to keep them from spreading.
I did bed line the underside of them before installing which I think is helping a lot. I'll also state that they're still bare...I need to do a little more trimming to get the tires to fit entirely. I'm not sure if painting would help with the cracking...but I do plan on wrapping them which will hopefully keep everything together a little more than paint would.
Fiberwerx...required a fair amount of trimming to get to fit even remotely decently. The bedsides are a completely different story...lots more work. One of the reasons I decided not to do bedsides
Just personally like the look of the fiberwerx...although advanced is better known for their fitting without a lot of trimming, but its more or less hit or miss from what I've heard.
