Honed Injectors

Why is no one honing their injectors? I had mine done 5000 miles ago and have had no issues. The guy who did it is a Dodge Tech that specializes on diesels. He said it is the only thing that they can not detect. He said the sequensing of the injectors is not an issue yet. When he was a Cummins school he messed with the sequence and the ECM didn't even know. I am just surprised that no one is doing this instead of using a chip or programer that will void warrantee. A 70 horse hone helped my mileage as well.

how much did it run you?
Yeah, that sounds awesome if you got 70 Hp out of it!

Did you dyno your truck before and after on the same dyno???

What I mean is...how are you sure it's a true 70 Hp?

How much torque did you gain?

Can you "safely" hone them larger to gain more power?
I had mine done in Kamiah Idaho. The guy does it on weekends in his own shop. It cost me about $750 to have it done. He picked up my truck on Wednesday and did the removal, hone, ballance, and installation and I picked it up on Sunday. I don't know what he would do if you were unable to get the truck to him. I assume you could send him injectors and he could hone them and send them back. You could also buy new tips for one of the advertisers on the site and do it yourself.
I did not have it dynoed, but he said based on the flow rate it would be 70 horse. I can pull hills 10 miles per hour faster than before when I am loaded. I regularly gross 25000 lbs when I haul and he said I would not have to worry about egt or anything.
Mine will be sent to industrial injection soon as i can live with out my truck so a few days. either that or i come across a set of stockers i can send up to be honed.
Just looked up on mapquest because I am also in Idaho and its still 9 hours away Industrial Injection is like 2, but there is another company out also that does the same thing I will see if I can find some more info
I looked up a local place that does Extrude Hone. They said a 10-20% hone is about $240. Just need new copper washers to replace the old ones.
There was an acticle in one of the Diesel mags a couple months ago.
I haven't done mine yet, but plan to after I get a lift pump and modify my CP3.
I wonder what 70hp injectors will do to the DPF since it is adding fuel all the time. TS says not to run the MP-8 on 100% if your going to idle much or driving in town. Wouldn't the injectors do the same thing to the DPF as the MP-8?
I've heard good things about this place. Very reasonably priced.High Performance, High Output Racing - GetHoned
Should have mine out next week. And shipped out. I can do with out the truck now since I broke down and bought a gasser for 35mpg's.
how much would it cost to do this and how would i go about finding someone to do this in Louisiana??? we have no decent diesel shops around here
I know several guys here from ga. that swear by them.....
my only problem with it is that extrud honed injectors are more prone to break if its takin why over board. thats the main reason i want to send a stock set and keep a set.

I want in on the gathering too!!! Farmboy I was in Frankfort/Mulberry on Monday.

Do they guarantee against breakage...like FearTheDeere said, honed stockers are prone to splitting under heavy abuse!?

We need to meet up because i want to hear your exhaust. You are only like 15 mins. away i would think that we could get together sometime.
Okay, so does anyone just think the DDP 80 HP nozzle set, is more worth it?

If it costs $750 (at minimum), to have them honed...

And it only costs about $900 for the DDP nozzles, that are completely NEW and CNC'd to prevent splitting.

So, if you ask me...

I think I'll be going with the DDP injectors, because they offer a warranty against malfunction...plus it's a completely new nozzle.

And, it's not much more in price!!!
