I'm a visual learner. I am researching VVT/VGT/VNT turbos for my truck and stumbled upon a fairly complete explaination. The below link explains how the Holset VGT works:

Does anybody make a performance minded variable vein turbo? How sweet would it be to have 62mm spool up performace on bottom end and 66mm cooling on top end.

Apparently Fleece has had good luck with the Garret variable turbos off of the Duramax. I was hoping to stay with Holset to pass smog here in California.

I agree. I don't know what it does for performance though. Last time I checked up on it, it was still very new and being tested
