If I am looking to get A HO motor to get the 48re tranny, Can some one tell me what the HP/Tork would say on the sticker on the valve cover?
I ask this becauce, I never seen anything to tell if the motor is a HO or the
48re tranny by using the vin nunbers.:confused013:

Thank you in advance.

Anything built after Jan 1st 2003 has the 48RE whether its an SO or an HO. There was also 2 SO's

2003 S.O. Federal Emissions: 250HP/460lb.ft. Available with NV4500 or 47RE
2003 S.O. Calif. Emissions: 235HP/460lb.ft. Available with NV4500 or 47RE
2003 H.O. Federal Emissions: 305HP/555lb.ft. Only available with NV5600
2003.5 The 47RE was replaced by the 48RE automatic transmission and available with the H.O.

2004 S.O. Calif. Emissions: 235HP/460lb.ft. Available with NV4500 or 48RE
2004 H.O. Federal Emissions: 305HP/555lb.ft. Available with either NV5600 or 48RE

Not to hijack but....

My 03 was built in January. It says 01/2003 on the door sticker. It has the SO engine according to the valve cover (250 hp). I assumed I therefore also have the 47re.

Are you saying I might actually have the 48re since it was built after 1/1/2003? If so, I could then add the programming to take it to a HO motor without fear of blowing up the tranny:party018:

How could I confirm this?

Depending on where your truck was on the line will say whether you have the 47 or the 48. There were a very few trucks that made it past the engine stuff before the Christmas vacation but didn't make it off the line. Those trucks will have the 47RE and an 01/2003 build date.
