I bought a used 2015 2500 with stock Firestones. The wear bars were showing at 34k and couldn't get them to give me new ones as part of the deal. Eventually bought a new 2018 2500. The stock Firestones need to be replaced already at 28k. Mine is 90% highway miles as my daily driver and 4500 miles pulling travel trailers.
You might find a few people that make it past 30k miles, but the majority of owners report them wearing out around/before then. They just don't appear to be durable. Put Cooper AT3 XLTs on mine too. So far I am blown away by how quiet they are with such an aggressive tread compared to stock Firestones. Traction is superior. Ride is definitely stiffer. Have to run 10 psi lower than with the Firestones for a comparative ride quality. But the ride is good. MPG is about the same, too.
I ran 2 sets of Hankook DynaPro AT2 285/75/16 of my last truck (F350 4x4 7.3 crew) and each set went 65K.
I am considering them for my new RAM 2500 4x4 Cummings.
That’s good to know about those Dynapros. I had the normal AT’s on my Silverado 2500 for 20,000 before trading that in for this Ram. I liked those tires so much I put them on my daily driver work truck. But both of those are gassers and your post is the first I have seen on a diesel, if that makes any difference. I will be getting new shoes on this one in March, so it’s now a toss up between the 2.
The stock Michelins went over 65k but I hated how hard they were. Had 2 sets of BFGs the first went 38k and then second set went almost 40k had two separate within 100 miles with my gooseneck and not loaded very heavy destroyed the box. Had a set of toyo 285/75-17 open country MT they went a hair over 60k. Now I have toyo Open country AT11 extreme they have 50 should go to 60-75. I had several bad experiences in a row with Cooper’s years ago and refuse to use them ever again. I drive mostly highway with a trailer hooked up the rest gravel and off road with some in town.
