I was wondering, what is the difference between the H.O. and the "regular" output? Now I know that the H.O. has about 325hp, but what is done differently? Is it different programming in the computer? Is it a different head?

Thanks,
fred

My 03 SO has 250hp. The HO's have different injectors, oil spray to the bottom of the pistons for cooling and computer enhancements. Also the compression ratio is higher. Not sure if they get that with the head or a different piston.

Since your asking about the 325 motor I am going to assume you have a 04.5-07 (fill out your sig)... All motors in this era are HO and are rated at 325/600(610)....

But what Randy said covers the 03-04's.

In 04.5 they went with a different turbo, improved airflow in the head, a 3rd injection event, valves/seats designed for higher EGT's, and added a Cat to all the trucks.

I have also read that all Cummins have piston cooling jets, but the H.O.s have larger ones??
