High idle question

510 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  MoparProud
So now that it’s getting colder my truck is starting to high idle when I first start it in the morning. I have always wondered if it would be bad in the long run for the engine. I can’t understand how it’s “safe” for the truck to idle at 1k rpm when the oil hasn’t had a chance to warm up yet?? Any thoughts or am I just being over protective. 😂😂😂

K. The Engineers at Cummins that know FAR more about these engines and engines in general than ANYONE ON THIS FORUM, specifically designed it to do that. They don't design junk to explode down the line, they build solid stuff that lasts for decades.

Stop worrying. It's doing it's thing, leave it be and worry about something else.
