Lately Ive been wondering if its bad for the ol engine and Head Gasket running the Eb at idle for warm up and especially at high idle. To me its like shoving Bananas in the tail pipe. Sure as heck helps warm it up though. Anyone have any significant input?:confused013:

IMO it's like when people come on asking if running the EB all the time is bad. It was built to be used. In the manual they specifically recommend to use the EB to warm the engine, and the engine goes into high idle on it's own when it's cold. I don't believe Cummins would build a system that would harm itself.

That's my thoughts anyways.

The EB doesn't plug the exhaust like a "banana up the tailpipe", the exhaust still flows pretty good. It just puts more of a load on the engine. Won't hurt a thing.

With my drive pressure gauge I only see 20PSI on the head during high idle and EB. Your head gasket is safe, wouldn't lose any sleep over it.
