I'm using 55w 4300k. I don't know why you'd be going that high up. The lights going to be pretty much useless.

8K can suck in the rain, to much blue. My BMW came 4300, they were nice. I changed them to 5000. Those are nice too, I love them. Stick with 35 watt, less heat, longer life.
Look at Retro Solutions.
They are a sponsor here so look for a discount code. And I will suggest the LED backup lights, Bad .

Like others said, go to retro solutions. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...TSidjCwZE5V94cBuRAthg&bvm=bv.1355534169,d.dmQ

They may seem pricey over a lot of the cheap china made ballasts but better to just get something of quality first. They have great customer service too.

I use their 35w 5k in the lows and 55w 5k in the highs. I have 6k in my bike and ran them in my Dmax for a while. I like the clearer, brighter color of 5k though.

okay i checked them out and im going with the 5k 55w hid conversion kit. Here is my next question, i will be buying the smoked halo projector headlights for a 2004 ram 3500 from recon lighting and the style of bulb they use are h1 style buy the stock style is a 9007 style. Can some explain to me wether this differs or can i buy the stock 9007 and they will fit.

H1 and 9007 have completely different bases and focus point. Buy the kit the kit that fits your housing.
okay yhe stock housing is a 9007 and the housings i want to buy from recon are h1 style. Are there 2 different h1 styles or are they compatible?

The HID bulb is the same. The base the bulb is mounted in is different. Electrically they are compatible to the ballast so you can change from one to the other just by changing the bulb without having to change the ballast. They are not interchangeable mounting if you buy a housing that requires H1 you cannot put a 2007 bulb in it.

Another thing is all H1 bulbs are single burner while the actual 9007 is a high low configuration. So the better 9007 burners are bi-xenon and move the burner to simulate the two filaments. The H1 hi-low projectors use a movable shutter to block part of the light on low beam. This actually gives a better defined low beam cut off than the 9007 gives and allows better beam patterns on low and high beam. This was originally done by the Europeans (E-Code) as their lighting standards minimize glare while the DOT blob pattern requires a significant amount of glare above the low beam cutoff.

Okay. So if i get the headlight housings from recon ( which are an h1 style ) ill have to order the h1 style hid's from retro-solutions correct?

Dude do not get anything from recon. Look on ebay. U can get literally the exact same thing for a fraction of the price.

All they do is take the same made in China parts, put em in their fancy box, and sell them for hundreds more.

Also word of caution: buddy of mine ran hids in this style headlight and it.melted through the front lense. These things look good but they're cheap
