Hi! My name is Claudio, I am up here in Frazier Park Ca (somewhere between the Santa Clarita Valley and Bakersfield) .
I own a 2002 Dodge 2500 4X4 cummings Heavy Duty pickup.
It has been a great truck with very little issues (Purchased the truck used about 4 years ago) However I been some momentary binding and the front axle , primarily when I make a right turn and lately it has been more obvious tot he point that It make a binding noise ( like metal to metal noise) I took the truck to the local shop and they open the differential cover and all appeared normal ( brake Calipers are working fine ) the suspected that it could be a transfer case problem. So the front drive shaft was removed to allow the front axle to turn freely. Without the front drive shaft the front axle does not bind while turning or makes any noise. My question is : If the front axle has any internal problems ( the front axle was never disassembled for inspection) could the removing the front drive shaft "hide the internal damage since the axle is rotating without the load of the transfer case?
Your feedback on this will be greatly appreciated!
