Ok until yesterday I've been running a Smarty, boost fooler, and edge on a stock turbo.... the stock turbo would hit 39psi.

I then bought a II SB 66 and boost fooler.... I installed everything and now the max boost reading is 24psi. The previous owner of the 66 has the gate set at 39psi.

So my question is.... is the edge reading the wrong boost? Or do I have to boost fooler in the wrong position?

Right now it goes Edge, Boost fooler, Engine.

Should it be Boost fooler, edge, engine? Seems like then the edge would read wrong right?

I dont know if this is a scientific way of thinking but I noticed when the stocker is at 39 its screaming.... when this one hits 24 its loud but not as loud as the stocker at 39 which makes me believe its reading true at 24. Again not scientific just an observation.

I think tomorrow Im going to try and take out the boost fooler to see what it reads. If it still reads 24, then I'll maybe try and adjust the wastegate itself. I also turned off the wastegate on the smarty since thats what it says to do in the instructions for aftermarket turbos. Thoughts?

do you have a mechanical boost gauge or just your edge? what settings on the smarty are you running? other than that i believe it goes map sensor, boost fooler, edge....i may be wrong but just my $.02
No mechanical guages at the moment. I am planning on getting a triple guage pod though.

I believe my smarty is....
Level - 6
Torque - 2
Rail - 3
Timing - 3
Wastegate - off

So your saying put the boost fooler BEFORE the Edge and plug the edge into the motor? I know i have my terminology wrong because Im not remembering at the moment how i hooked up the edge its been so long hahaha.

I have a quick question, doesnt the smarty have a built in boost fooler? Do you benifit from having another boost fooler?
I dont know the answer to that.... but I never seen anywhere that says it does... so Im assuming it doesn't.

smartys "boost fooler" is the wastegate on/off function. i think the 6.7's guys are having headgasket issues cause there running a boost fooler or something marco posted about it in one of their threads.

PUREVIL im saying go engine (map sensor, plug with blue weathertight packing), boost fooler, than edge i believe you have it hooked up correct. you checkin boost pressure at full throttle? is there a load on engine?
Oh ok Im thinking backwards here.... I do have it hooked up like you suggest.

Im checking it at full throttle while driving.... it just stops at 24. I mean it gets to 80mph quick though LOL. The original owner said he set the gate to 39psi and it would hit 39 in his truck. Im not concerned about the turbo being used because he said it had less than 100 miles on it because his tranny blew up. When I got the turbo it looked new as can be with absolutely NO play in the shaft at all.

i read another one of your posts looks like you bought the turbo from (strokethis07) he seems way cool and a stand up guy i dont doubt that turbo at all...just throwing ideas out there. im sure someone will chime in with the right answer soon
Ya I got it from strokethis07 hes a great guy I asked him the same question and hes not sure why its reading 24 so I decided to make a thread. To try and get more info.

With everything in my sig minus the turbo I was beating the hell out of my truck with my edge on 5 and my smarty settings listed above and my stock tranny is holding strong. I havent been to rough since strokethis07 said this turbo ruined his built tranny so im a lil scared at the moment. But I've giving it the juice a few times and I cant feel any slip.... but then again thats why im wondering if its really running only 24psi. I want a built billet trans bad so I can crank everything up and beat the snot out of it and really have some fun! LOL

Yea stock auto tranny.... I've done a lot of burnouts, 10 psi boosted launches, but drifting is my thing though.... even in the huge ram its so much fun to kick this sucker sideways and watch peoples faces as it slides around corners black and tire smoke hahahaaha. I always thought it would be neat to see a slammed regular cab or quad cab dually cummins drift truck with one super wide rear tire! Maybe that will be my next project! LOL

But under light throttle it shifts smooth, under hard acceleration I dont feel any slippage.

The boost fooler is plugged into the plug on the motor... and the edge is plugged into the boost fooler is that wrong? Reading the previous post sounds like I have it right, maybe I should go take a pic? I dont think its the tranny or fuel.... it lights up to 24 very fast and it shifts into 4th and still holds a reading of 24 and it does feel like there is much more to go it just levels off at 24 and stays at 24 doesnt build anymore boost but it builds speed like a mofo.... I tried it again on an off ramp floored it and it hit 24 in no time and I kept it pegged and I was doing well past 95 and it was reading 24 and I let off. IT seemed to get to 95 in 2 seconds though LOL

If that is the case, then the Edge is reading it wrong. Because, if you say you are getting to those speeds so fast, then the Edge is just telling you what the MAP sensor is reading. Get a mechanical gauge bud.
Getting gauges is in the future plans.

So if the smarty and edge boost fool to 44psi is having a boost fooler point less since Im only running 40psi?

If its reading 24 now why did it read 40 with the stock turbo?

OK i took the boost fooler out and now it says its making 40psi.... so it must have been making 40 psi the whole time its just reading wrong. HAHAHA so should I leave it out for now? Or should I put it back in? I want to run a little more boost :D

Ya I hit 40 no problem.... I want to adjust the gate to get to 45 maybe 50 :D

When I adjust the gate I tired turning the screw in and well its tight to the point where it feels like any tighter and its going to snap.... but is that how you adjust the gate? Im assuming the spring is pretty strong hence why it feels tight.

I think whats confusing for me on how to plug it in is im not 100% on the terminology and Im thinking from the wrong direction.... i think i may either need an illustration LOL Im sorry i told you guys im a noob!

So the boost fooler should plug into to the edge and then the edges into the map plug on the top of the motor? Im sure this is easy but honestly after all this im getting confused because i must be making it way harder than it should be LOL

Fordassassassin: im not a big talk on the phone guy if you can shoot me a pm if you want... if not im ok with that too. THANKS GUYS!!!!
