Hi All, first post.

Hope this is the right section.

I tried searching for this too but couldn’t find anything. I’m wondering if anyone can help me figure out how to stop the radio from turning on (twice if I try to mute) during startup.

It drives me crazy! I don’t know why the radio would be programmed to turn on automatically - I can do that myself!

Can anyone help me here?! Cheers and happy new year to all.

I tried that but the volume resets every time - if I keep the radio on, but lower the volume all the way and shut the truck down it will still auto turn on with medium volume..

Mine does the same thing. It starts pandora on my phone everytime I start the truck. I have changed the settings to the off position for the auto play but it makes no difference. Drives me nuts

Spent the day playing around with the radio to see what could be done. I think I may have found a work around... for now.

I don’t ever listen to FM radio - I stream over Bluetooth mostly and use bluetooth to call hands free.

What I found this morning is if you shut the truck down, while on FM (not phone or media, or AM) with the volume turned down to zero when you start the truck back up it will remain at zero.. this will not work with the mute function or from any other source, only volume down and FM.

Totally bizarre. Try to see if it works for you..

I can't speak for the 3.0 or 5.0 since I've never played with those particular radios, but when I start my truck I have it set to bluetooth media (which I don't turn my phones BT on until I'm in the truck anyways). From this standpoint nothing is playing and it just prompts Bluetooth Media on the screen.

This is what I do. Didn't realize it only works with FM.
Bizarre.

I may have spoken too soon.. seems that my solve is intermittent. This morning the volume and radio were back..

Has anyone wired a kill switch for the radio?

(Assuming not)

Wondering if I can isolate the head unit and put it on a switch, I’m already tired of having to perform a unique shutdown sequence that has been hit or miss..

FWIW my HU is the 5”

It is all based on your memory seating settings. If you set the radio at off/volume low, then re-set the Memory seating position....everytime you start up it will use the settings for that position ie 1 or 2

I've got an '18 Lone Star pkg with the Uconnect 4C 8.4 non-nav. If I'm on Satellite, FM or AM with the volume down, when I restart at a later time, it will still be the same way I left it. (Volume down)

I think it's bizarre that you can't turn the radio "OFF" in these trucks.

Any suggestions for wiring a radio kill switch?
You can put a switch on the red wire at position 44 on the big connector at the back of the radio. That is the fused battery +. If you have the 5” small touchscreen radio, be aware that all your settings are controlled by the radio (trailer, lights on unlock, etc) and If you kill the constant power to the radio every time you shut the truck off, they MIGHT default and you’d have to reset them to how you want them. You’d also lose all your presets and time/date every time, since the radios don’t have an accessory (retained memory) wire.
