Well gents, I have been getting the run around on the build that I have done. I purchased a bunch of parts hoping I could make them all work seamlessly but I have been having nothing but problems. What I need the truck to do and what it is doing is so far apart. I have a 2015 ram and decided to build a motor for it so it could support the fun and drivability I need. So I started the motor by completely rebuilding it with all new internals, Hamilton 188/220 cam, springs, arp head studs. Then I talked to a couple companies and explained that I needed to tow my 10,000 toy hauler and would like to have fun with the truck to race a few cars here or there. They sold me on the following recipe: 2nd gen swap T4 turbo 467/87/1.0 billet; 100% exergy injectors; exergy 10mm stroker pump; fleece lift pump; fleece 5” intake. I also last minute installed the banks intercooler kit. So I contacted my guy to send me an updated flash for all the changes I made. Sent it to me and loaded the truck with the files. The day to day driving we got cleaned up, but I went camping this weekend and towed my toy hauler. The truck could not tow for ****, I was in 3rd-4th gear and rpm’s up high to try to keep egts under 1400. I live at sea level and local grades it was horrible, I can’t even pass a car before hitting 1400 deg went 4,000 ft to our camping area and it was so much worse. I honestly cannot be more disappointed in my truck. I have been trying to get input to see if this is a tuning issue or the complete wrong formula of parts. Could I get this thing correct with a turbo change and if so which can do it? S464? Fleece VGT? Please help

Probably bad tuning…

BUT those 100% over injectors aren’t helping you or your tuner out at all. Crazy horsepower and docile towing rarely go together.

What are your boost numbers?

With a larger single you won't be able to have stock acceleration at lower rpm's. I'm curious as well what you consider is high rpm's. Either way even on a stock truck but especially modified it's better to keep rpm's at 2k cruising and 2.2k+ for hills and passing. Doesn't seem like a mismatched setup to me.

Well after tearing the truck apart because of frustration, I found that I received a S475/87/1.0 AR. Way larger turbo than what I thought was a 467. The dealer is sending me the correct turbo now. But I had already ordered an S464/83/1.0 AR. Going to try the 464 first and see how it does before I try a true S467. 😖😖😖😖

The s464 will spool pretty fast and you'll likely want to turn your fuel down with the 100% overs. Either that or the s467 will work well.

So I finished installing the S464/83/1.0, and omg what a difference in drivability. Same tune and the truck drives like a raped ape lol. But yes Marq92 it spoils very fast and dies off at the top until it grabs the next transmission gear. I really like it a lot, it reacts fast on the freeway and launches very quick hardly any lag. Egts are very low compared to the S475/87/.90, at cruising 80mph it stays around 780 F. I floor it and egt never goes past 1189 F. So I really feel I am going on the right direction. I have the 475 on delivery so I think I am going to try that one next to see how it will react then I will make my honest decision that works. I am going to try towing with the 464 and see what egts look like tomorrow.

So wanted to update, I installed an s467/83/.90 AR, and attempted to run but tuning from my original tuner was not too good. I ended up getting new tuning from a tuner and the truck is running extremely well. I feel like tuning was one of my biggest issues, unfortunately I had to pay for the new tuner but we’ll worth it after all the work. With the new tuning drivability has been awesome, very light smoking on lowest tune setting during hard accelerations. I now can say that I have a very good setup, I highly recommend the current setup I have.
