So long story short after a very tough trip through a snow storm my front end took a beating 4x4 with bald tires not cool! Anyway I just went on a trip and I hit a rough section of road my front end began shaking very abnormal and continued to shake after the rough section of road had passed as I applied the brakes the shaking did not stop until about 30 mph from freeway speeds. I pulled over because I thought I had a flat tire the shaking was so extreme. It happened again and I gassed it instead of breaking which made the shaking stop sooner. With 170000 miles on the truck the front end is all stock and only have upgraded shocks for suspension. Any thoughts on problems/ solutions or of similar problems occurred. Also troughs for upgrading front end and suspension upgrades "coils overs" ANY HELP THANKS !!!

It can be so many things my 04 and 07 did the same thing. The 04 was the trac bar the 07 just needed to be realigned. Do some research and take it to a good alignment shop they might be able to pinpoint your problem right out the gate.

The 08+ front in for the steering is a good idea gets rid of those week tie rods with 170k your ball joints might need to be looked at

I'd definitely get under there and watch the trac bar while someone turns the wheel. There should be NO play. I suspect that first then I'd look at TRE's or BJ's even though they aren't usually the culprit. But when you combine bad Trac bar bushings with worn TRE's and an already sloppy steering box... DW IS INEVITABLE.
I added the PSC steering box brace to mine and it did tighten up slightly.
More than likely a HD trac bar from someone like Don Thuren wil really help

Number one place to look first. Lifting the vehicle and shaking the tires won't cut it either. Do like he said, have someone that knows what they are looking at under the front while you yank the steering wheel back and forth. The trac bar cannot have ANY play, it only takes a couple milimeters to cause it

Thanks for all the help I definitely have death wobble which has happened about four times on this trip I went on Not Good. I was looking into the Carli front end upgrade system with new springs from them too. Any other thoughts on brands to look at for upgrades. It looks like I might be spending $1000 to $2000 to fix the problem I guess and I still need new tires and alignment Ill just have to drain the bank account!!$$$$

It could be your tires too, it was on my truck, I had some work out D (I think it was D) range tires, switched to Toyo E range tires and it went away.

Next question should I go to the dealership and ask for the 08 front end Or look online and order it there, the 08 front end components match up to my 03 ? And it's definitely not just the tires I just looked at the front end and can see tie rod, track bar ect... bushings look really beat on and considering how horrible death wobble feels there is now way I'm taking any chances especially since I tow with my truck. But hey Thanks for everyone's input this forum kicks .

Jack up each tire. Grab both tires and see if you can move them (check for slop or play). Try turning the tire left and right by hand to check for tie rod play and try to tip the top of both tires in and out to check for ball joint wear. if this checks out okay then you know you have either steering box issues or trac bar. Keep in mind our steering boxes have an adjuster on the top of them. Run this adjuster in to tighten up the steering box.
