Well now its officially winter here, the last couple days highs have struggled to make it into the 20s. But now an issue that would only show itself once in a great while during the fall has now been very problematic. When attempting to start the truck, even with it plugged in, it will fire, then die, or itll just turn over and turn over and itll chug then die. Put your foot into the pedal and itll start but itll run rough for the first 20 seconds then smooth out. Itll do this engine hot or cold. I ran into the store for about a half hour, came out and it did it. I was driving down the road and coming to stop also and the truck started chugging and almost stalled, i had to blip the throttle to keep it from dying.

IDK if this is air getting into the system or my OFV. Truck has 240k miles and everything is stock. The OFV has never been touched, nor has the timing, or injectors and pump.

Has the filter been replaced?

What is your idle at when warm?

To check for sucking air do this. After the truck has sat for a few hours and before you try to start it open the bleeder on the filter and manually pump the LP watch to see if air bubbles or fuel comes out.

It's normal for cold weather starting to give it a little pedal when starting and for it to idle low for about a minute or two.

To check the OFV pinch the return line from the OFV and start the truck, when it fires up hurry and take the pliers off. Do this when truck is warm, if it started right up then the OFV is probably bad. My truck had about 228,000 miles on it when I had to replace mine.

What is your fuel pressure, low pressure hard starting and low power.

Idle when warm is about 700 I would say, Filter was replaced about two months ago. I have not had a chance to check fuel pressure as I have been sick all week.

I was going to replace the OFV anyways just for good measure and since Im sure its the stock OE OFV in there. Should I get one through work (cummins) or go the TORK TEK route

I would say if your not building your truck up for alot of HP. the stock OFV should do fine. I've never priced the Tork Tek but check the price difference and then make your decision.
