I need help deciding.. I am already sold on 20s for wheels but I am undecided ok n what type of lift to run. I would just like 35s I have decided I do not want 37s. I was looking at bds 2 and 3'' kits as well as some other random leveljng kits and such. I also looked at rcx 5'' but feel now it may be too much fpr 35s. I have searched and seen pics. I cannot decide I do not want a crazy jacked up look just a bigger aggressive look. These bds kits do not look bad for the $. And yes it is a street queen so I do not feel it warrants the $ for carli or thuren

37's are a tad tight on just a 2" or 3" kit, and dependent on wheels, will rub on full lock.

As far as what brand, I just installed a full thuren kit(3" springs, track bar, overlands, and shackles) and it was WELL worth the money. My truck is mainly a pavement princess as well, but try and find someone who has installed the thuren/carli system on their truck, and go for a ride. You will be absolutely amazed. Those cheap $600 lift kits are some of the harshest riding, kindey shaking options you can get. I had one on my 03 2500.

Also, since you are going with 20's, your ride is also going to be that much rougher too.

Good luck with whatever you choose though!

thanks man i appreciate it. 35s with 20s seems the route to go but I am not sure if I want the stuffed look of a leveling kit.

I should have posted this earlier, sorry. But here is my truck with the 3" front springs and the shackles jacked all the way up with 35" fierce attitudes which come in at 34.9". I want to keep a bit of rake for when I tow the boat because I hate trucks that bulldog.

I should also point out that front bumper weighs ~300 lbs, so that helped in getting the nose down a bit. And sorry for the poor lighting.

So I am now sold on a 3.5 inch lift with 35s on stock wheels. However I have been searching and I would like to find the best one that's not crazy expensive but is still high quality. Names I have looked at so far are carli , pure, tgc, and thuren what am I missing and what all do I need

Dump Pure and TGC. Carli makes good stuff, but they use Bilsteins which are a very rough shock, in my opinion. I had them on my last truck with a 4.5" lift and they were kidney jarring. I know, everyone is going to say that was the lift, yada yada yada, but the ride actually got rougher after I swapped in the 5100s for a 'smoother ride.'

I am a 100% Thuren man based off quality and ride. I did ALOT of research before I bought mine and everyone said if you want a softer ride, you cant beat the thuren springs with overland shocks. And they were 100% right.

Dodge's are known for a rough ride, and after spending alot of time in my father in laws 07 f250 king ranch, him and I agreed that his truck was much smoother than mine. However, with the thuren kit on mine, he was absolutely amazed(and he takes any chance he can to knock dodges), and was wondering if Thuren did suspension for fords.

As far as what you need: 2"-3" springs, track bar, overland shocks, and his shackles. All told cost was $1250ish shipped to my door. I know it sounds like a lot of money, but trust me, its worth it in the long run.

just hopped on cjc and it looks like thuren 3'' coils with overland shocks and track bar as well as daily driver end links (needed?)will be about 1200 or so shipped. is that all that is needed? if it is gonna be that much better on quality than 1200 seems worth it. I am thinking about just keeping my stock wheels and getting some 35/12.5/17 tires

Those items are for the front only. If thats all you put on the truck, it will be bulldogging, or higher in the front than in the rear.

If you are looking to lift the rear, you will need blocks or the thuren shackles.

Yes, axle wrap. You already have 3" or 4" of blocks on the rear end. The more blocks you use, the more rotational torque you have on the leaf springs, thus allowing more axle wrap. At the end of the day, axle wrap can wear heavy on, and even shear, U-joints.

Here is a video of exactly what axle wrap is, shown on a cummins truck: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RxsVSNv1xI&feature=youtube_gdata_player

And here is the Thuren's description of the benefits of the shackles:

"The precision machined greaseable Delrin bushing we use as the shackle pivot, provides smooth bind-free shackle swing. When
performance suspension is added to the truck, the extension and compression of the leaf springs length, can bind up the tight
rubber OEM shackle bushing. This adds unwanted restriction forces, and removing every bit counts."

We actually use Bilstein and KING. 5100s are an entry level offroad shock, not a "plush" shock. The Overlands are more plush because they are not an IFP design like the 5100s. The 5100s are a superior shock, hands down, concerning performance and longevity. Thuren offers 5100s too and I'm sure he'd tell you the same. I wouldn't knock PP out of the game either, they make a great product.

We pride ourselves on shock tuning. If 5100s are what you're after, you'll get the same shocks from every manufacturer. If you want performance, consider a commuter, perf 2.0, pintop, etc. That's where the ride is really dialed in!

I would steer clear of the 20" wheels and go with the stocks or an aftermarket 17". Our leveling kits will give you substantially better ride quality than stock or a spacer lift. Good luck with your build!

What would u suggest for needed parts on a 3 inch or equivalent. And yes I am now leaning towards 35 on stock wheels. At first I did not care so much about ride but now I am kinda looking towards improving since I am spending money on suspension. Don't really wanna spend over 1500 on just parts idk if that's reasonable or not. I am now looking for improved ride and 3 of lift in front and maybe one or two out back. How did the thuren parts list I posted look?

With regards to ordering, CJC offroad, strapt, thurenfabrication.com, and thecarlisuspension.com.

Before I ordered, I picked up the phone and talked to all the manufacturers and the people who sell their products. Thats your best bet to get the answers you need. I only have hands on experience with one system, like most users on here. Pick up the phone and call the people who sell the stuff and get their opinions based on your needs.

And Dan, I wasn't trying to knock you our your product. I know the 5100 is a great shock and I know your suspension is top notch! But with my trucks minimal offroad time, I dont need that much offroad performance. I am well aware that the overland is a more street queen geared shock.

looks like I need to talk to thuren because the overland shock sounds like a good fit for my application (street queen as well). I appreciate all of the help. I went from wanting 20s with 35s and 5'' of lift to now looking to order some top of line suspension pieces for ride quality:thumbsup:

I'd spend the extra money and get a superior lift kit dude because if not, things will begin breaking, wheels wearing and so on. I have a 6" superlift that I have been relatively happy with. The Bilsteins are not the best however. If I had the money I would slap on some kings. I ran 37s and still had a little rub, so I trimmed the well inside a bit and also installed fender flares to reduce the mud sling. I've been running Procomp Extremes and this has been the ONLY tire that gives me 40,000 miles of whatever I decide to put them thru. Good luck!
