I just bought a 1999 2500 Cummins with 218,000 miles from a retired man who used it to pull an enclosed trailer to transport his MG to the track. He had a 5th wheel installed with a Tekonsha P3 brake control. He expected it to be with him until he died; but plans changed as he told me. Fortunately for me he did a lot of work to it, to make it reliable not fast, and I was looking for a reliable rust free truck.
He owned it since 2005 and only put 90000 miles on it in 13 years and rarely drove it in the winter. He had a truck bed shipped up to Wisconsin from Texas and then had it painted. While the bed was off he applied POR-15 to most of the frame, replaced the leaf spring, and installed a Load Lifter 5000.
So far I've replaced the 2 batteries and will be putting in a 190* thermostat instead of the 180 that likely is in it as it never gets above 176 according to my Actron scanner,
