well hi. let's see ... in June of '14 I bought a Ram 1500 Laramie EcoDiesel! Yep, I did (you can see my posts w/same username on the "ram 1500 EcoDiesel" forums).

This weekend I sold the truck back to dealer and purchased a '14 2500 CTD Big Horn (obligatory picture of my truck that is not any different than anyone else s, but it IS mine!)

anyway - first the EcoDiesel was a really excellent truck. It lived up to its MPG claims - i could hit 30mpg on highway speeds. i had the air suspension which made the truck ride like a Lexus.

but.

we do have a Lance 2285 travel trailer (only 6K lbs) and we knew we were going to be limited if we wanted to expand our toys or upgrade trailer so we made the decision to get it done now + combined with some really good incentives that eased the trade in sting and ended up with the 2500 CTD!

i'm new to diesels but tried to do my homework long before purchasing. i'll be honest, 80% of my use will be as a daily driver and you know what, i'm ok with that!

anyway just wanted to post the introduction and maybe even take some questions regarding the EcoD which I had for 7K miles and towed for about 1K, most of that being in the Sierra's & Tahoe area of California.

I'm enjoying my CTD but only 150 miles on it and just trying to get a few things taken care of like step up bars (my 7 year old girl just stares at me and says "i can't get in that dad!"). with that said, looking forward to learning and when i can, contributing to the forum!

Welcome Jeff. Hop into the non-Cummins section for the Hemi/EcoDiesel posts and add your experience with the Eco if you'd like.

Congrats on the new truck.

I was interested in the eco diesel also as it looks good for some uses. But in towing a heavy trailer and using it like a full sized truck should be used, it kept coming up short to me.

I wanted a crew cab, but wanted and need a 8' bed, so that the 1500 eco diesel was a "no-go" for me. While running empty 27+ mpg sounds really cool. But when the smoke cleared for me the full sized Ram 2500, can't be beat.

While paying extra for fuel is the only down side. As the full sized 2500 rocks!
I have only 2k miles on mine, but know I made the right decision. As a full sized truck that can do it all, with the reliability of a cummins, for me it is a slam-dunk.

Welcome!
