Any input or ideas but heater air is not hot it’s warmer then the ac no doubt but not hot air

Out of both sides or one?

Also, has the coolant been changed according to service manual?

You have three possible issues if the blower works fine.

1. Air in system. Solution- vacuum fill system
2. Plugged heater core. Test- check the in and out hoses on firewall for temp difference while truck is warming up. Temp differential will say heater core plugged. Solution- replace heater core is recommended, other solution is to find someone with a flush gun.
3. The actuator door is stuck/ motor non functional. Test- listen for motor movement or find wire and verify power. If verifying power, you must verify motor operation. If motor is good, door is jammed.

Ok well the vents blow warm air , the floor is cold air defrost is very cold. But put it back to just vents it’s warm air... any advice

Blend door? Do you hear a “clicking” noise when you first turn the key to the on position?

Is there a DYI on replacing the actuator

Ya gotta remove the center stack (where the a hvac controls are) and then you’ll see 2 of the 3 blend door actuators. Turn the truck on, listen for clicking noise, if there, replace the noisy one.

Ok so take what part with the temp controller and fan speed. See what is bad and replace. Right? So same step as when I replaced the radio just check the actuators now ?

That whole center piece has to be removed. Then you’ll see the hvac box (some of it anyway). There’s 2 blend door actuators literally right there.

Nope. No clicking. So any other trouble shooting before tearing into the dash

ok flushed the heat core and lines are hot so ordering the blend door actuators.

So got the heat going good. Can someone tell me the function of the actuator under/behind the radio , I know the one behind the glove box is the heat - cold blending

Those 2 behind the radio control the air to the upper vents, lower vents and defrost vents.

I think the one behind the glove box controls the heat/ac, but don’t quote me.

Gotcha. So my vents do not seem to have a lot of air or force from the vents. For 30 bucks I can get the actuators so figure why not change the one behind the radio and the one behind the glove box.

There’s 2 behind the radio and 1 behind the glove box for a total of 3.
