A mopar heater core is $140, however its made of plastic? And a aftermarket version is $32 and fully metal. Why would i choose a pricey part thats made of plastic vs solid metal?

I bought the metal with swivel tubes. Some have had leaks from the swivel. I haven't.

I took the short cut method by cutting the tubes and using rubber hose. The intent was to not drain/deal with the working AC. I initially couldn't get the rubber hoses to quit leaking. I had a flaring tool, flared all of the ends and have no leak. The cheap HF tool works fine.

Can this be installed without removing the whole HVAC box. Don't wanna go thru draining and recharging a/c again but want a good quality heater core.

No idea, I wouldn't think so. But I don't know. My ac blows hot anyhow.

Yes it can. Here's a a couple links... https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/forums/2nd-gen-dodge-ram-no-drivetrain-90/quick-way-change-heatrer-core-2-3hours-229112/page2/ and https://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/98-5-02-non-powertrain/1847282-swivel-heater-core.html
Flare the lines if you cut the tubes otherwise it will leak. I also saw where you can let the whole box slide back far enough to leave the AC alone and not cut the tubes. Mine isn't heating as much as I'd like and I may go back in to clean the leaves and bugs out of the box. It's like anything, short cut and later think what if you hadn't.

Pay your money and take your chances.
I didn't flare mine, still clean and dry for 6 years.

Yes you can install without removing AC lines and all that.

You do have to pull your dash forward a little, don't have to completely remove. Took me about 2 hours to get at the heater core. Cut the old one out and buy another with swivels or modify non swivel with some extra hose.

Looks like some of the above posts cover that. If you have any specific questions, let me know.
I bought the mopar heater core. What about the A/C evaporator? I need to replace that while I have my heater box out, and while that is out I will install the Heater Treater to fix my broken blend door actuator.

Good thought, anyone got a link to a mopar ac?
Found a few, but not entirely convinced there genuine.
I'll be using this one.

The one from mopar is around $350 bucks. Lol. Not gonna pay that.
i cut mine, and did the rubber hose method. Using quality Fastenal hose clamps. Can access the hose clamps thru the glove box if needed, but in the 4yrs since ive done it..no leaks at all. Took me an hour fifteen, start to finish...having never done it before. Didnt touch my a/c system either
