Can u install the head studs with out removeing the head from the block is there enough clearance from the fire wall and cowl.

Yes you can its a pain on the 6th cylinder. you will also need to grind some of the riser off in the back, one of the stud bolts hits it.

I Didn't have any grinding, I guess we got lucky.

I also had to grind clearance on the rocker housing once the studs were installed. Not a big deal, just enough to clear the rear stud.

i didnt have to grind but i think the cause of this is that the stud wasnt put all the way in before putting on the bolt

I also had to grind some off the rocker housing in the rear for clearance for one of the bolts.. Wasn't too bad of a job it just took some patients :lol4:

So there is enough room to slide them down through the head. So u can pull one bolt at a time then install a stud

Yup i had enough room to get the bottom tap and the head studs in without removing the head..:thumbsup:

A couple of my buddies have done it but two of them blew the stock gasket right after they did it. Just something to think about..

must not of known what they were doing or didnt torque them down right.... or didnt do re-torques

Quite possibly not lol. I dunno it was before i got into the diesels. They arnt the brightest people who work on trucks...

Some chase the threads (I do) some do not. And nope, the tap is not included in the kit.

i didnt chase either and no blown gasket sofar but im only running 42 psi of boost

this a is a little off subject but i am running 42 pounds of boost out of my stock turbo and my egt are around 1350 1370 at there peak when running light to light at what point is the stock turbo going to just be blowing hot air or have i passed that point already. My buddy has the same year with less miles and same tuner and cant get but 33 34 pounds what is the deal with mine. (maybe its like an engine runs the best right before it dies huh !!!!!!!)

At 42psi, you are at or probably beyond the efficiency range of the stock charger.

The tap needs to be 6" long, trade name is called a pulley tap. M12x1.75x6
