I wanted to get everyones insight on ARP Studes requiring the machining of the rocker pedestals. Is it really necessary? I know there is the whole issue with clearance of the nut to the valve cover. But i've heard a lot of people say to cut the webbing of the cover out, shave the washer down, and or just take the washer out. Just want some input on what I should do.

i'd get the pedestals cut. if you shave the washer (with a grinder) then it's not gonna be square and the torque won't be right. the washer gives the stud some more support cause its a little smaller than the hole in the pedestal. if you do it right then you have the peace of mind that it will be right.

Try searching, that exact question has been asked and answered a lot recently.

I would save up and go with A1 H11 studs if I did it again
